Hi all. Lately I've been seeing alot of info on stats and new revelations, like the dmg issue. So now that it is free respec i was wondering, is full int mages still the best way to go? If yes or no, why? Thanks, like to hear your opinion.

Hm. Interesting bc i see lots of people trying out variations now and telling they work good. Esp with the info on shield recently.
Nm i was full int but now i try something different and seems to be much better. So I'll stay with it till I'm bored. Ty :-)

I added like 20 points into str because I have a HP build of 3.9k HP - if you don't want to add STR points get passives and STR gems.

Just wanna share: you must have high str too for better shield :)

It has been said before but needs to be said again. Any mage who uses heal in pve is a liability. You are drastically reducing your usefullness to the party. Add a third/fourth offensive skill and use pots. If you are still playing with people who can't manage their own mana then you need to find a new party.

I disagree with you. The more you pot the less you attack. I would rather have a mage that can heal/mana to other members so they can constantly attack instead of potting and less attack. But then again, you have to be a good mage and know when to use heal.

Or everyone in your party can use their pots, thus sorc can utilize another attack skill, maximizing party damage output. FYI potting doesn't prevent you from attacking. If you can't pot and use skills simultaneously, try playing on PC.

A good mage doesn't use heal in PVE in my opinion

My Lv.41 Sorc:

Skills:
4/5 Lightning (No shock)
5/5 Frost
5/5 Timeshift
4/5 Shield (No displacement)
2/5 Lifegiver (only empower upgrade)

Passive:
5/5 Knowledge, Crit, Might, Agility

I sometimes swap skill between shield and lifegiver because the long cool down of shield. Depend on map.

My experience, for lifegiver user, only use it when shielded (better the first 2 second after cast) or there is not too many mobs.

Happy farming :D

Limiting yourself to three offensive skills (or two if you need shield) will mean far fewer attacks per minute (25-50% less damage). In addition, while charging Lifegiver, you are not attacking at all for 2-3 seconds. Hitting a pot takes a fraction of a second. The result of Lifegiver (~67% health) is so insignificant that you will need pots in addition anyway. If you are such a passive player that one heal will suffice through an entire cooldown cycle then you are a pretty ineffectual party member anyway.

This is ever more important in elite maps where a mage's primary job is crowd control. By speccing Heal you are removing one stun/root skill.

Yes I agree!! If I ever use lifegiver its only when I'm farming or helping guildies in easy maps where I don't wanna use mana pots for easy targets!!
If I am on a party and someone asks for mana I give them some golds to buy themselves mana pots -.-
mages are just another class like rogue or warrior, people play to kill not to be a medic! Mages are huge crowd damage dealer.
I use
Fireball
Ice (replaced bolt)
Time
And
Shield

before when i start my pve adventure i have lifegiver on my build. but after having so many runs i observe that spamming pots gives me more survivability even on elite runs. and i agree that having more attack skills are efficient than having defensive skills in pve.

I have 4 attack skills on my pve mage and im happy on the outcome of my build even w/o shield i can manage to run effectively on elite runs. (though you end up having more kills than with shield) just look for a good tank on your team. or just do some hit and run style in pve.....
