How long would YOU play for a good cause? Our answer? A whole 24 hours!

Spacetime Games is excited to announce a partnership with Operation Supply Drop, a charitable organization dedicated to delivering video game filled care packages (supply drops) to members of the Armed Forces conducting humanitarian missions across the globe, and recovering in military hospitals in the states. Their annual event 8-bit Salute is a non-stop 24 hour gaming marathon that raises funds and awareness for their cause.

Spacetime Games is joining the cause this year along with game industry titans Rooster Teeth, Gearbox, Naughty Dog, Treyarch and more. On May 17th members of the Spacetime team will LiveStream Spactime’s games on our Twitch.tv channel, along with the help and support of our team and community members, for 24 hours straight. Starting today, players can join our team on OperationSupplyDrop.org (http://operationsupplydrop.org/team/SpacetimeStudios) and help the studio hit our fundraising goal of $5,000. Below are the details:

8-Bit Salute LiveStream

Spacetime Games Twitch.tv Channel: twitch.tv/spacetimestudios

Plus, Battle Command! will release a limited time 8-Bit Yellow Ribbon Flag and Statue of Victory. All proceeds from the sales of these items will be donated to Operation Supply Drop.....

I don't usually do this kind of thing. But let me get this straight, if I stay up and play video games for 24 hours, I'll be helping fund a good cause?

Even if it is for the soldiers to have a little fun every now and then I still won't stare at a screen for 24 hours. Plus its on Saturday when I can be selling at the farmers market rather than playing video games all day.

Yeah I don't know. I think I'll pass on this one. I donate enough to stuff at my church xD

24 hours straight is very unhealthy and bad for your eyes.

Don't think I could play for 24 hours but I have donated to the 8 bit salute anyway to make up for it :)

Gunnars op

Also, being outside can cause the same if not worse conditions as constant gaming.

He means the UV rays of the sun. Sun is good but too much of it can give skin cancer and can make you lose your eyesight if you don't protect yourself with things like hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

This. Although, that is literally just the eyes and I suppose the skin in the sun. In general, though, being outside is way better for your health than gaming all day and night xD haha

Constant gaming is bad health, but outside gives the possibility for worse health.

They have said they will be in Pl but it doesn't mater to me if they show or not.

It's the idea of what the marathon stands for that's important.

I am actually shocked if the lack if support in this thread lol

I'd gladly participate for the cause if I was able to. I and I'm sure others just have other things they need to be doing.

Well there's a few reasons for me, personally.

1. I still don't understand how me personally playing 24hours is going to have any direct impact on the funds being raised. It seems like I could help just as much by playing for a few hours during the event and then focusing on college work.

2. It is only care packages with video games and stuff. Don't get me wrong, that's a huge deal! And I'd definitely want to support a cause like that, but again, I'm not sure I understand the whole deal with 24 hours aside from it just being a fun thing to do.
