Is there a way to use the keyboard to control the game instep of the onscreen joystick and touch hockeys?

Nope, suggested before.

I've tried using a wireless keyboard on an ipad while playing, and I could only use it to chat. Even just to enter chatting you'd still have to click on the iPad itself, so using a keyboard isn't that useful at all unless all your doing is chatting.
