View Full Version : Passive Speed does not work in PvP

I can understand the need for healing to be decreased, and damage having adjustments made to try and make classes balanced in PvP. But I don't understand why passive speed would be turned off. I just tried a spec with 5 passive speed and ran at exactly the same pace as the players without it while in the PvP areas.

Could the developers please shed some light on this? It is getting frustrating to discover how many of our skills are actually useless.

Thank you.

Maybe everyone uses movement speed passives in PvP. It's OP.

The test was with guildmates, so I know they did not have speed specced. I doubt "everyone" would even if it did work, since it requires taking points from somewhere else. Would be nice if we didn't all have to have the same build just because the rest of the options don't work.

Actually during the free spec weekend I tried it on my Mage and DID NOT notice any difference. I believe its because of the highest single modifier rule which also applies to Speed. So my speed pet > passive.

Agreed. Passive on mage is barely noticable. But my complaint is, as a mage we must use speed to even keep up with party in pve. Why the heck are mages soooo slow in first place. I mean seriously, when peoples pets can out run me, something needs to change.

We do not even have feet, we have pokey stubs. I want toes please. Why have fingers and no toes?

Passive speed is just 5%...
5% is 1/20 ...
If player takes 100 steps the other should be 5 steps ahead which is pretty unnoticeable in short runs..
Am I thinking in the right direction sera?

I'm not sure Link. The math is never what we think it should be. I'm curious to see if the devs are willing to shed light on it. The 5% is noticable in pve on a rogue, so should be at least a little bit faster in pvp...and I was exactly the same speed both with and without.

Well this may relate to something else similar in a sort. .
Remember that update in which devs said that if your passive damage is 5% and your pet buffs u 10% damage. .
So total damage would be 10% only.. not 15%..
Do not know if the same applies to speed also...

Not trying to sound insulting, but did you have a speed pet out? There is a cap on +speed%. If not, then perhaps your observation is indeed accurate. From my experience, I've never noticed a difference in speccing +5% speed in PvP or PvE. Back in the day when I was going for [Haunted] AP, I skipped this passive due to the fact I found it useless.

Hopefully since the game is evolving, the passive will be improved somehow.

Eliminated and replaced with something one will actually consider before rightfully labelling it useless while specializing for example.

Hehe funny. Of course I didn't have a speed pet out. It's not my first rodeo.

Yeah... like I said, wasn't implying that you were a newb or anything (I know you're a veteran player). I had to ask since you didn't mention it. At any rate, I added that tidbit of information for anyone reading this thread and didn't know there was a speed cap :)

Below is the last time a dev commented on this subject. So, take it as you will, but it's probably working as intended. (read the entire thread to correlate Lojack's response, because the initial post is a silly suggestion).

Thanks Tae. Yeah, I think that comment was in relation to foot speed vs attack speed. I don't think it's supposed to have 0 effect though.
