What u can do is Blast and repulse. Then heal up and kite a bit. Then root shatter blast :)
If they don't mana shield yet, repulse first to see what they are up to. If they still don't mana shield root, shatter, blast. If they do, follow the timing above.
P.S. I am a mage but I am unique in my playstyle. Most mages play that way.

Yeah, a blast and a repulse immediately after is very good. It makes the shield useless, then go back in for the kill once your cooldowns are over.
