How to tell what game level you are in?

I was using my Mom's iPad, and at the bottom of the screen, it would say what game you were in, along with the enemies left in the section. But now that I am on my iPad Mini, it only shows the number of enemies. How to I get the text back, or find out what game level I am in?

Opening up the mini map shows me what level I'm in. I'm not sure what version Ipad your mother has but I'm using the second generation and that's the only way I can see what level it is.
