latest pash crashes the game

for me, the latest patch causes PL to randomly and immediately quit to the homescreen.
i have no clue what causes this. yesterday, everything was fine, and i haven´t changed anything on my phone since then.

i am using a motorola milestone, with stock android version 2.1 (update1)

the game also re-downloads the patch on every start.
