I can't sleep the game or switch apps without it resetting

When I leave the app, it resets the game. I find this hard to cope with when I'm working hard to traverse the map and suddenly everything is reset. I would like to ask that the game auto-saves more and doesn't transport you so far from your destination when you switch apps of sleep your device. Thank you for reading. Do you mean, when you switch your device off- All your progress is erased? Like if you reach level 10, and when you switch off the app, it restarts from level 1?
If that's the problem, try signing in with email. Register your account with email, and won't be any problem after that.
Or
If you're playing on mobile device, try to clear your memory card/phone's memory.
