For pve- Obviously both pets give the exact same happiness bonus

The difference is in the passive attack and arcane ability, grimms passive at lvl40 is better than slags but..
Grimms arcane ability for mage will never stun the mobs because mages use fireball which stuns the enemies and give them 7 seconds stun immunity, while you keep firing

Slags arcane ability is panic which the mobs are not immune to so slag will usually stun your mobs no problem, that being said the choice is yours.

Both are great but for PvE, I found Slag's AA much better. The armor and hit% debuffs on Grimm sure are nice but can't compare to a high panic chance that works on everything in about three times the range of Grimm's AA.

Grimm for PvE for awesome debuffs :)
Slag for PvP for the awesome panic
I prefer grimm over slag in 1v1

Grimm also applies debuffs on his aa, so it doesn't totally come to waste.

Slag for the win, Its aa can catch an entire mob and passive is nice too, Grimm is just a dead pole dancer.

I also have both. Grimes debuf at 41 are awesome for bosses. He has strong passive too. Slag imo is better for mobs. He has more range. for the panic I haven't noticed in either, too busy killing

I have both and Grimm would be the choice for me. Imho, grimm is the BEST looking pet out there, the way he twirls his weapon.

Someone post their lvl 40 stats? Forget them exactly and wasn't able to find them doing a forum search.

Buy slag now, get grimm over Halloween when the price falls to 500k.
Both pets are good and very comparable, so whichever you take you will be happy with the choice.
While deciding on whichever pet you gonna go for take into account you playstyle.
If you have skills that require you to constantly move your mage 30% debuff to speed that slags gives you may be very desirable.

I don't know how you ppl consider grimm a pvp pet, Have you ever seen a capped pvp player using him when they have access to another mythic pet? My slag is 41 and can stun an entire mob of hissing rogues in pvp.

The poll is rigged. Supposed to be "which is better PVE pet" not which is better pet (overall).

Grimm's AA and the passive level 40 debuffs can stack, 15% armor stack with 10-15% armor O_O
I don't know if this has been confirmed..

Both are great pets imo and situational. I'll have to go with slag on this one however; if it does panic you can take down gangs of 2v1, even 3v1 if you're damn lucky or fighting 3 rogues (arcane rings are exceptions ofc).

I proved this point by killing 2 warriors in a 2v1 (they know who they are, I won't gloat) and a mauler in a 1v1 (also knows who he is). Gotta love those triple locks! FB -> slag -> FB...GG.

Grimm has ridiculous debuffs and for that reason alone I'd buy him. Its auto has 5 different debuffs - this means at least one will be attacking you almost every hit. Its AA also does banish and -10% crit (which just about screws up mages, who already have low crit to begin with) and -10% armor. Passive has a chance to proc -20% armor, -35% hit chance, -20 int str dex. All in all, a great pet.

However I am leaning more towards slag because we ARE the stunning class, after all. A mage who can stunlock is amazingly strong if you play it right!

Once again... I agree with Omni! It's the range and also it just seems to work more often. It's like even as much as I love sam... He doesn't banish very often but with slag you know what he's gonna do every time.
