In the announcement it says

Here it's plural 'new vanity items'. Anyway it would be awesome if we would get new vanities to farm there.

By saying elite weapon and armor they meant the sets I think

Yes they should be releasing the elite weapons and armor

The 77 sets have to have SOME advantage over the L75 sets, and an elite armor/weapon will make that happen.
