Am I a 'noob lowballer' and if not what can I do to protect my ingame image?

So some guy was selling slag for 1.2m in paradise pier I sent him a pm asking 1.1m? .. here's how it went.

Now I like to think that im a very reputable character ingame and usually never find myself in a situation such as this. Is there anything I can do protect my image when people are intent on making me look like a 'lowballing b#*$@ scammer' lol

I appreciate the logic behind your post and its not a case of it actually bothering me... the thing is I spend a lot of time merching and this guys slanderous behaviour could have a negative impact on my ability to carry out trades with others. Idc about this guy one bit just wondering if anyone has an actual suggestion to deal with people such as this other than 'report, ignore'

as you've said, you are a player with good reputation, therefore what he says doesn't matter

also, please censor out the cursing in the chats...and then send a report to support (with screenshots that did not censor the words)

I almost never buy anything for auction price.....
Does that make me a lowballer?

But what it really means is that typically anything i buy can be later resold for at least the same as i paid if not more.
I call that smart trading not lowballing.

It always amazes me when people try to sell items outside of auction....for the same price or more than that item is listed in auction.
If i wanted to pay auction price i would go buy it from auction and i would not be standing here negotiating with YOU!!!!!!!

Your image is a very very big outcome in AL, If you ganged him, he will not buy or sell from you.

Like in the forums, If your reputation is very low, less people will likey listen and trust you.

Ok well you have nothing to worry about. I'll tell you guys a story. I went to paradise pier and someone wanted my Big Love (its a banner) he offered me and I said I can't tell him. Later on he made offers and then I told him it wasn't tradable. He said in public chat that I was trying to scam him. Everyone knows that if someone says that in public chat, they are lying. I told him that he wasn't telling the truth. Someone actually messaged me and said Elner scammed you right? I don't think I was supposed to get that.

People like to throw around the word lowball, but most don't even understand the fine line between a fair offer and a blatant lowball.

What you were proposing was a fair offer, 100k less than auction for a mythic item is not unheard of dealing with someone outside of auction.

Now, if you had asked to buy it for 500k that's a lowball plain and simple seeing as how that's around half of the lowest listing price in the auction.

That dude is clearly a nub merc who has no idea how to sell something outside of auction house, learn to tell the difference.

Well we don't get rich by spending gold that's for sure! 1.1m was a fair offer IMO. When people start calling you names, sometimes it's just to agitate you and the only way to prove you're not a low baller is by giving into their price of 1.2m. Pro merchers would have just said meet half way at 1.15 as a counter and go from there. Never lose your cool in deals and make it personal, it's just business.
