Logging onto Google Chrome through a Macbook Pro (Mid 2012):
Screen showing maintenance showed up. After 15 seconds of aforementioned screen, the usual log-on routine occurred, and I successfully logged into SL. No problems. Again, the maintenance screen showed for around 15 seconds, then the normal log-on process occurred as usual.

Quitting chrome and logging back in started the game normally.
