I think scamming has gone too far, and so many people are victims of scams.
Maybe sts should have something, where if you have been reported a certain amount of times for scamming, your trade window should be closed for a month, and you shouldn't have the right to change names.

So all them people wrongfully accused of scamming can't trade for a whole month.

As long as there's gullible people then people will get scammed... Be glad it's not you

The thing with scamming is I see. The buyer doesn't take time to make sure (A) in a rush to think this is so good of a deal to pass. (B) this person looks "noob" low level, crappie gear, talks noobish thinking they in part can scam them (a big part of scamming in AL I believe). (C) they don't follow the ToS (if it doesn't fit in the trade window it's not tradeable.).

It can happen to anyone. Not just the trade window stuff.

you know, i was thinking of being a scam police where i'd just report all the scammers i encounter, but then again, having to report a ton of players a day is no fun and it would definitely make the STS team suspicious. O_O "With great power comes great responsibiity." Lol, but I understand how you feel man. All we can do is just inform players and try to stop a scam before it happens. I won't lie though, I enjoy catching them in the act. it's even better if you put them on blast...MUAHAHAHAHA, JUSTICE SHALL PREVAIL! :highly_amused::highly_amused::highly_amused::high ly_amused::highly_amused:

To everyone,
If its too good to be true, its most likely false

Do NOT tell Anyone your account info.

Anything outside the trade window has a chance of scam.

I think the best way to avoid scamms is if sts removes the "gift" option ..
Also they should put a warning text pop up into the trade window

Theres millions of guides to avoid getting scammed.
STS reminded us to not be scammed millions of times, Daily.

Yet we still get scammed.
Use brain people.. Dont be greedy.

Honestly, STS should allow scam. Why?
To let us be winded in the real world, World that will be not pleasing (because of thieves, kidnappers, scammers etc).
They shouldnt remind us to be careful, we ourselves are recommended to have a thing called "Cerebrum".

Most scams in game are from gullible people. Mostly people thinking they know someone when they really don't. Unfortunately it's USUALLY the younger crowd. I feel bad that some people get their items back while others don't. I don't think anyone should.

Sts fixed the one major scam in game (removing 0) after a few years, so I'll give them that.

I was scammed once a while back, when i was trying to sell a guild. I was selling it for 10k i think, and i transferred leadership to the other guy and asked him to pay me. He toyed with me and put down 10 gold. Then he closed window and refused to trade again because i was "complaining". So, what did i do? I convinced him that i was really good friends with a developer and that i could get him banned. He began freaking out, he returned my guild to me (with all my members removed), he apologized, and he gave me 1k gold and a set of legendary armor begging me not to ban him and ran off, never to be seen again.

Maybe people can be some practical and use brains and not hearts and end up falling for same tricks.

I do like the concept behind this idea. I'll definitely talk it over with the devs and see where it goes.

There's one scam that I encountered a couple weeks back. They start off with an alternate character and advertise their scam by saying that they'd like to trade for a certain item on the CS. For example, they say that they'd like to trade Dovabear and Leprechaun Pendant for a Lvl 13 Feint Ring of Warfare. So then anyone that's already pulled into the scam would normally search up the CS since they most likely wouldn't have said item on their character. They then see the only available ring is priced at 150k. Now, this is where you better STOP. Why would they trade a Dovabear (500k) and a Leprechaun Pendant (170k) for a mere 150k item? They would be able to get 4 times as much as this amount. SO, you tell him that you would be able to buy at least 4 of these rings if you just sold those items. He then tells you that he "doesn't need gold." Well, you give it the benefit of the doubt and you buy this ring for 150k. You start the trade and BAM, he dashes off. You just lost 150k, BUT how is it a scam? WELL, YOU BOUGHT IT FROM THE SAME EXACT PLAYER, ONLY THAT IT WAS ANOTHER ACC.

Now, that is exactly what happened to me. I was fooled into buying this 150k ring and I thought I was actually scam-proof! Especially since I've experienced it so many times in different other games (Gaiaonline, VMK, Celtic Heroes, etc.). The bad thing is that YOU bought the item off the CS shop, so how would that be considered scamming? See what I mean? These scammers are stepping it up and I know many players have been scammed before by this same exact type of scam. Better if we step it up ourselves as well.

There's a bit of irony involved with that scam. It's not new though. It's a pretty common scam. Funny thing though, it's all based on a person's greed and their desire to make a buck at someone else's expense.

Oh really? I've never encountered it before so I figured it was new. I do agree with what you said about the greed, BUT I made sure to tell them that they'd be able to get much more out of this if he sold his items instead. How he replied made me give the benefit of the doubt and instead let my greed get the better of me. It's probably too good to be true I suppose.

Well, if you told them the deal, then you weren't being greedy. But yes, the fact that it's a really lopsided deal should be a huge red flag that something isn't right.

There are too many valid excuses for that to be a bannable scam. Maybe the other player didn't want the ring? Sure this is an unfortunate circumstance, but unless you have the player clearly admitting to that kind of scam, you wont be able to do anything about it.

I have the scam listed in my guide listed under "The Merching Scheme". Really the only way to avoid this kind of thing is to think "If it's too good to be true, then it is!".

I really don't think there is much STS can do about scamming, so you are probably best off educating your self so you can avoid it.
I have only been playing for about a month and have had people try to scam me multiple times. The best thing to do, I think, to avoid it is 1. Read Zylx guide on scamming and 2. use common sense.
The first person that tried to scam me tried to sell me two eggs when I wanted a ribbit, they said if I gave them the money first then they would give me the eggs... hmm... so common sense here... first why would you willing give me more for less and second why cant you just trade all at once in trade window? So I said, no, just put eggs in trade window. The person never said anything again and was gone instantly.
Not every scam is as easily avoidable but if you just use common sense and stick to the saying "If it's too good to be true, then it probably is" you'll probably avoid most any scam.

Maybe we should teach common sense in pre-school, but it's too uncommon.

Guys, i feel sorry for the people who got scammed. But i feel also sorry for the awareness of some victims.
The reason why u have a lot of scammers is cause it works.. its the easiest way for (noobs) to get gold.
If we all more carefull and check 10 times before confirming u wont get scammed.. we are the reason why scammers still excists.
We can all say sts should do this or that, but why should we blame sts when the problem is created by us..

Please guys dont let other people trick you!
