You will need to the following.
A Mac with Yosemite OS (it's free)
An iOS device that has ios 8 (8.1 came out, and it patched a lot of tough bugs)
USB charger
QuickTime Player
Step 1: Open QuickTime Player and open new movie recording
This app can be easily find by spotlight search. Click the file button, and hit new movie recording.
Step 2: Click the arrow next to the red record button, and click on your iOS device.
This step will be completed when you see whatever is on your iOS device, on the QuickTime player.
That's pretty much it! You can set up your devices mic like that as well.
