Question about necropolis cursed skull

Does anybody know if the cursed skull can still proc health drain if it is used on an armor or helm? I was thinking of using it on an armor, but I'm not sure.

It works on any item you socket it in.

Any visual on the proc? How do I know it's working? I saw another thread about this but I'm wondering how about a full gear grand cursed gemmed. All sockets. Would be noticeable?
