View Full Version : Balefort Sewers Trash Loot Idea

So right now the mobs in BS don't drop any 'trash loot', which makes sense from a development point of view. Why waste time and resources developing items people are just going to liquidate anyway. But as players we use that loot as a way to supplement gold while fighting. Now one solution to this is to up the gold drop from mobs, but the issue with that is gold splits between players, and upping it too much will just lead to a lot of locked solo games.
OK, So here is my solution:
Bring back the Default Object! It is obviously easy to model (since it is the base), and it does not really need any stats, and only needs to be a weapon. It should have a level, but no 'requirements', so players can walk around in towns with them if they want. These should drop off of BS mobs with the same frequency as greens from AO3, and should have a liquidation value of 200 Gold (about what you would expect from a BS trash drop). And of course, the description:
'Please Recycle'!
So, players and devs, what do you think?

I like it, I like it......anything to generate cash to replace pots with that doesn't cause ppl to get away from grouping....

It would be funny, but I don't think they'd do it. Personally I'd love to see the lack of drops compensated for with gold. One of my favorite things about the sewers is that I don't have to stop between runs to liquidate constantly, and as much as I want a DO, I don't think it's worth having to go back to liquidating all the time.

That would be nice, but the gold split issue would could cause a lot of solo runners. Do you remember when Crush was giving huge gold drops, everyone was locking their games and going solo.

Yes, that's true. Can you think of any reason why they shouldn't just give gold independently of party size (like XP sort of)? I really just don't want heaps of garbage drops any more. Maybe the default object could be a rare drop but from common mobs, and could have a very high liquidation value...

They could still split gold, but increase gold drops with party size. Or give a bonus to full groups. That way solo gold farming isn't that much better compared to being in a group.

Yeah why not make gold like xp? The bigger the group, the more gold? I don't understand why gold is split...

I agree with Lesrider make gold drop a constant, not split. Also I don't mind selling loot, I like watching gold go up:)

I like having the gold independent, not split. Keep it a nice, constant number and your good. Like Royce said, I hate having to liquidate 200 some trash items one by one. It sucks when you try to join a game that's being remade and get the annoying message saying you have items over your inventory limit and sit there for 5 minutes hitting "Liquidate", "Yes".

In an RPG I won't mention, they have an option of "auto-liquidating" drops as soon as you pick it up. You can adjust this by setting it to whatever coloured drop you want automatically liquidated. Of course, this defeats the purpose of the devs taking their time to create trash drops in general, but everyone liquidates trash drops anyway :p You just get to skip the part where you physically see what the drop looks like before it goes bye-bye.

I absolutely agree that gold should be the same for people in groups and people solo. Like have gold be an 'independent' drop like trash items, where everyone rolls and some get more and some get less and some get none.
