Winter is Coming to Arcane Legends!

News of the banishing of Tarlok and his dragon Valkoz, and the more recent defeat of Rendtail, Guardian of the Mountains in Tindirin, has reached the ears of Syrillax, Dragon of the North. Syrillax hails from the Mountains of Ursume, far to the north of Arlor. The local tribes of the area have pledged their piety in the direction of the North in hopes of awakening the Northern Guardian. Syrillax has heard the plea of his brethren, and is bringing with him the frigid winds of Ursume in the pursuit of vengeance. He has now settled on a small island to the north of Tindirin and turned the once-lush island into his frozen domain.


What is the Winter Event?

In the newest Arcane Legends seasonal event, the dragon saga continues with Frozen Frontlines. The dragon lord Syrillax has taken up residence on Balmy Beach, a small island North of Tindirin, turning it into a frozen domain with brand new maps, gear, pets, and bone-chilling boss encounters. Get ready for a Winter Event like you've never seen and steel yourself for the final encounters -vs- the familiar foe Tarlok and the all-powerful Dragon Lord Syrillax! Check back on this announcement page throughout the week for teasers, screenshots and other insider event info!


Updated 12/5 Keep and Eye Out for More!

Sorry to keep you waiting, but anticipation makes the reveal twice as exciting, right?? Leaderboard vanities are still in progress and will be revealed next week. Keep an eye on the announcements section for more news, updates and changes to the Winter event based on feedback we've received over the coarse of the Winter Event Public Test. Thank you all for your participation and feedback, it's been incredibly valuable and we can't wait to reveal the winter even to everyone soon!

Here are some of the major changes coming to the live event:
+ Upon reaching Platinum Tier, players will now receive 1 Enchanted Eye of Syrillax in addition to the recipe to craft more.
+ The Enchanted Eye of Syrillax will no longer require planar essences, but instead will require 10 of each of the following gems: Glacial, Blood and Fire (This means the crafted gems, not just dropped essences.)
+ The 2013 Christmas Vanities will be modified to make them a little more unique for this year.
+ The spawn rate of the Syrillax Guardians has been reduced so you won't see them quite as often.
+ We nerfed Tarlok's "sky bomb" ability to cause less damage.
+ Tarlok Gem recipes have been reduced to the same requirements as last year + 2 ice dragon scales.


Token Rewards and Craftables

When you beat bosses and complete quests in the Winter Event zones, you'll earn Ursume Tokens. These can be exchanged in the quest hub for valuable items like recipes, chests, pets and vanities! Check out the offerings on the token vendor this year:

As always, you'll be able to use Platinum to purchase extra Energy Kits or Tokens, but let's get to the good stuff.

You can use your tokens for extra ice-covered chests. Grab the recipe for greater ice-covered chests and you'll be able to craft them into rarer versions with chances at new legendary gear, or the snowman pet Snowball! There is also the Locked Grand Crate of Ursume which includes the shiny new frost-touched versions of the mythic bow, bulwark and rifle.

New Bosses

Tribesman Frelleus is the first and arguably the easier boss in the event. He will spawn most often in pre-bronze and bronze tier.

The Syrillax Guardians are the Silver Tier boss. You'll fight each of three guardians in turn, and each one brings something unique to the table.

Tarlok makes his return as the Gold Tier boss, and he hits HARD! This one will take a bit more strategy and a well coordinated party.

And finally, Syrillax, Dragon of the North. This fearsome foe is waiting for you at Gold tier. Watch out for his hard hitting bite, his inhale move and health eating minions.

Also, if you brave the cold all the way to Platinum tier, you'll encounter a bonus boss! The Syrillax Guardians come back at platinum tier, but you won't have the luxury of fighting one at a time... you'll have to take them on ALL AT ONCE. Bring your best gear to this fight. You'll definitely need it.

For those who were expecting vanity teasers today, there's been a change of plans. We're taking into consideration new feedback that may change the vanity line-up for the Winter Event. But there's a ton of new gear to check out in the meantime, so take a look at these wicked new items available exclusively in the Frozen Frontlines event.

The brand new Icescale sets are the ones you want to keep an eye out for in the winter event. These sets are cool (get it?) already, but when you collect the whole set you'll get a set bonus which will give you a boost to your primary stat! Take a look:

Tiered Rewards

Playing the Winter Event content will earn you points so that you can progress through 4 different tiers of gameplay: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum tier. Moving up in the tiers isn't always easy, so we make sure that getting to each one is worth your while. Here are the prizes for reaching each of the Winter event tiers:

At bronze tier you'll get the sparkling snowflake Frozen Frontlines banner, to show that you've made your mark fighting the bosses of Balmy Beach.

Once you reach Silver, you'll receive 3 Greater Ice Covered Chests. These chests have the chance to drop many useful items such as gold, energy, and event tokens. They also give you a chance to receive items from two winter themes armor sets, a legendary Chillwind Amulet or the Snowball pet egg.

Once you fight your way to the gold tier, you'll be rewarded with the new yeti pet: Yowie. Here are a look at Yowie's stats at level 41:

And, finally, if you triumph over the the terrifying bosses of the winter event and get all the way to Platinum Tier, you'll get the recipe for the Enchanted Eye of Syrillax. This socketable gem will grant you a boost to your STR, DEX and INT stats.

Winter event platinum tier reward isn't as encouraging compared to the Halloween event platinum tier.

Based on my assumptions, you may only need one platinum tiered character to able to craft numerous gems. Which doesn't really bring much of a challenge imo. Unless, you may need uber high amounts of points for platinum tier.

Overall, everything else looks great. Yowie pet looking fresh. :D

If the gem is based on the level of crafting equipment then it might be useless for twinks as well. If 26 r getting 2/2/2 n 1.5 crit then level 13 or below might be half as 1/1/1 and .5 crit. If that happens then I will LAWL all night long.

I kinda thought the gem was bad too until I did a back of the napkin / quick spreadsheet calculation for a 41 rogue using 1 para gem, 14 of these new gems, and pure dex.

I did do this fast, so there are probably small errors, but I saw only a drop in bonus damage (40% on base without gear), but in other stats I saw a gain of 200 hp, a damage base drop by 2, an increase in 300 mana, and an impressive increase of crit by a huge 20%. If you used the new planar tactics armor, samael, and the new rogue daggers your crit base would be out of control. In a clash stacking aimed you would hover at around 90%-100% critical constantly, that... is rather scary.

Yes because 90 percent of people can afford 10 para gems. Lol no. Most people have 1-3 and ur statement that skills dont matter is completely wrong considering i vsed and beat a lvl 18 13-1 yesterday when im lvl 17 and using only two para gems he probably had one. Sure there are a select few people in my bracket that have 4 and up para gems but all u need is a nice little panic pet or a lurid bow proc and boom enemy rogue is dead. Doesnt matter how many para gems they have if they cant move or heal

I was simply showing that even if people have lots of para gems you can still kill them. When did i ever say equipping para gems and going full dex took skill? And you misunderstand what i said before that. In the vs i had with somebody higher lvl than me i never used a stun pet and some of the fights we didnt even charge bow because he didnt want to be stunned. I would consider positioning to beat somebody with superior gear to be skill rather than luck. Have a nice day :)

let's not panic with the stats difference of the Elondrian Mythic Weapons and the coming New Mythic Weapons. Maybe it's just a typo error or something. If STS said it's a Winter Version of the Elondrian Mythic Weapons, I'm sure they will fix and even out the stats and procs of the weapons. I'm assuming that STS will just release these for a new look of the Elondrian Mythic Weapons to match the Winter Armors and Helms. Relax guys! Let's panic if they made a final decision of the stats. Lol! For now, just enjoy the game and a piece of advise to all who will sell their Elondrian Mythic weapons, wait until STS confirms that it's the final stats of the new Mythic Weapons.

Tiered Rewards

Playing the Winter Event content will earn you points so that you can progress through 4 different tiers of gameplay: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum tier. Moving up in the tiers isn't always easy, so we make sure that getting to each one is worth your while. Here are the prizes for reaching each of the Winter event tiers:

At bronze tier you'll get the sparkling snowflake Frozen Frontlines banner, to show that you've made your mark fighting the bosses of Balmy Beach.

Once you reach Silver, you'll receive 3 Greater Ice Covered Chests. These chests have the chance to drop many useful items such as gold, energy, and event tokens. They also give you a chance to receive items from two winter themes armor sets, a legendary Chillwind Amulet or the Snowball pet egg.

Hey Val! Thanks for the feedback. We're very sorry you're not pleased with the new winter content. Please keep in mind that the winter event is scheduled to run for 4 weeks! That's twice as long as Halloween. So, we took that into consideration when setting points, tiers and token values. They are all scaled so that players can work on it progressively over the 4 week period. It wouldn't be much fun if you could get through everything in a day or two, grab all the loot, and then be bored again. We hope this makes sense. :)

Hey Remi thanks for the quick answer!, and yes I Agreed with you, if we can get all the goodies in some days then the game eventually will become bored, BUT Remi , think again about the winter stuff, NONE of those items IMO worth the run, Is like have a contest with a hard work and earn just a carrot ( Yes that way Insane )

In the other side, the bosses are really well done and I been enjoyned all the fights UNTIL THE FIGHS BECOME BORED, sorry for be lil rude but is really really frustrasting see AL in this way, the bosses heal are too high and evetually it become too repetitive, make our work worth something and NO spend 150 energies and earn just and Ice Queen Set that worth just 60k.

I don't know where drops the eye i thought it drops from syrillax, i found more than 50 syrillax and doesn' looted one from them with combo + luck + lepre

Make that gem 3/3/3 or 4/4/4 with the crit and I'll put time in. That's pretty time consuming recipe. Stock up now guys bc Daily quest for 10 planar ess can obv only be done once a day. I'll try and setup this week to only have to get eye, ice scales and orb for this gem and tarlok gems.

Hello all, ima try and keep this productive as I really just want to shout bit cannot see any good coming of that.
1) I fully understand sts and their strategy as any and all businesses have same approach I.e keep gamers interested so they can spend money and keep game viable for sts.
2) releasing new mythics is real BAD idea as this is pretty much gona alienate all end game users.
3) many players have spent all they have on getting new mythics and spending millions on elo locks, to so soon make them 2nd best is bad idea and will lead many to rage quit.

My suggestions.
Iv spent some time thinking on this and how u can make event interesting.
1st for plat tier intro a new set of gems I.e 7% armour gem, 7% crit gem or dodge gem & and 7% into gem.
All pink armours, amu & rings are fine and can stay.
2nd introduce a new mythic ring lvl40 with comparable stats to amulet, this item only drops from event chests and locks.
3rd intro new arcane or mythic pet similar to sns and whims, I personally like idea of mythic version of whims/sns.

That's my lot for now if anything else comes to mind I'll say.

Don't just sit back! Get in on it! If someone is spending millions, another is earning it. Events have been the most profitable activities for me by far. - And no, 100s of platinum is not necessary. Four weeks to farm energy essence is a long time. :)

I won't patronize you by explaining supply/demand, so I will get right to the punchline: The current high cost of mythic weapons means that very few people have them. The introduction of new (almost identical) mythic weapons in anther event will allow more to have them.
I can't help but wonder who you are referring to when you say "alienate ALL endgame users". I'm confused now, because I thought the introduction of more mythic weapons into the market meant more people had them. - The complete opposite of alienation.
The only way your argument makes sense is if by "ALL" you meant "me" or that "alienation" means "inclusion".
In other words, the only people you considered in the formulation of your rant/argument, were... um... you.

Next time you post a thread, try not to 'alienate' the majority of endgame players and consider people other than yourself.

Fair shout, when I say end gamers I mean the bulk of elo wep users, which is a fair few indeed, players have spent millions crafting their elo weapons with various gems, to have it all be made 2nd best within space of 2 events is kinda low blow, I needn't remind that any mythic weps r considered best for 2 lvl caps, we're now approaching our 3rd set of mythic weapons within same cap. All classes have 2 types of mythic weapons from which to choose from which is fair enough.

Ok I have another brain storm idea, why not intro a craft component that can be added to all current elo gear to upgrade from elo to winter, ofc this component only drops from locks and master chest. That way we all happy :)

Every boss is a recolor/rename/reuse. Every vanity/pet is a restock. Every gear/weapon is a rework/recolor/rename.

Don't release the exact same pets and exact same vanities from previous years, what are you trying to say?

This whole event is a rewind of other events but with no inspiration, no thought and no care.

You can't keep doing this and expect players to stay, especially with how much most have invested in time and money.

I'm with Allocate on this. Do people not realize even the vanity for winning the warrior LB is just a helm?

The body is just the naked warrior model colored blue, there was no polygon modeling that even took place it's all just re-skinning / slightly modified maps placed over the naked warrior model/mesh. As an artist I can't look at these types of things without thinking what has been going on in this space of time and wanting transparency.

Furthermore, why would anyone even run for the prizes listed with the token vendor? I can already go to the CS and buy most things for the event for pretty cheap. It's hard not looking at last years event and seeing the warrior from last year being reused, tarlok being reused, Alargon, etc.

It's like releasing Kraken Isles again or something but then charging people 5 plat / 1 energy to run the map they've already ran for gear they already could mostly get.

I'm sad... :(

Because the plat a tier reward was a real item...a gem...not some illusory garbage.

We have no chance at buying the required event kits to win the LB prize, that is just life, fine. But you shouldn't put all the potential payouts in an event to the highest LB places. That's crap. They should have to chose whether to run for LB or to run multiple alts. Idk how you can not agree with that. It would circulate more gold around in a market where most of us have been siphoned dry. Please do take a closer look at the recipe screenshot! The first ingredient is the "eye of syrrillax". The gem u craft with the recipe is called " enchanted eye of syrillax ".

So it is a drop. The question is where does it drop an how high is the drop chance?

Ok so these are things that I think should be changed: larger points gain and tokens gain,3 bosses at once on plat tier? Give us 3 loots then,change requirements for enchanted gem: eye of syrillax? Planar essence? Ursume? Where will we find those after event? Or wait,we wont have recipe that we worked for after event? Be serious, if its 2 str dex and int make us find 5 of each essences and make anoter essence for crit gain,make recipe pernament,why would we go all way to plat tier if we will get nothing after event,dont make it all around endgame,there r lots of twinks that want that gem and doesnt have endgame account,one gem isnt worth of such an effort if requirments stay like this,breezaga is obviously too expensive,vanities and recipes as well,dont make us regret spending time on playing winter event,sorry for criticising,but those r things that have to be changed if u dont want only platinum buyers to play event,let us all play and enjoy,
