The best gears currently are in elite. lol. Arcane shard is from dragonscale elite chest. mythic recipe and arcane fossil is from arena. dark crystal helm/armor are from planar elite tomb chest. Also correct me if i'm wrong all arcane weapon also drop from some type of elite chest. So technically all the best gears are farmable and are in elite.

Realistically not many people drop stuff from those chests because the drop rate is awful

My opinion is that the best gear should always come from elite maps.

For those that say how would STS make money, when was the last time you did a deathless Planar Tomb 3 run and loot something worthwhile? Exactly....



If the best drops came from elites, people would spend more on elixirs and revives (whether it's Ankh or Plat revive doesn't matter, STS gets the revenue either way).

If STS wants to add rare crafting components to Locked crates that enhance the best drops from elites, then I completely understand. This would create a symbiotic relationship between farmers and crate poppers, so it's an all around win.

I tell you what, if I loot a top shelf bow, and I know that I need XXX crafting component out of a locked, I'd be way more inclined to open a bunch or buy the item out of auction.

I imagine a world something like this....

You farm Tomb 3 with Combo/Reroll (and spend some Ankh along the way), get lucky and loot a Planar Bow. You list the bow in auction.
Someone else opens locked crates, gets lucky and loots a Paraclesus Recipe. They list the Recipe in auction.
A third person buys both the Bow and the Recipe. Farms the necessary crafting components, and pays a few Plat (5?) to craft a Paraclesus Planar Bow, which significantly enhances the DMG on the base bow.


This scenario could work for all classes and with various Recipes:

There are lots of DMG tanks out there, maybe they would like a Paraclesus Maul?
Maybe a Sorc wants to augment their armor stat on a Ring? Enhance a base ring with a Krom Recipe that adds heavy shielding.
Rogues need more HP? Augment your amulet with a Sorrax Recipe to add +200 HP.


You can even extend this recipe system to add PROCs to gear. My personal favorite PROC is the Wilds Amulet. Who wouldn't be willing to purchase or open crates to get a Tarlok Recipe that adds the same proc to any item? Consider a case where you can enhance your armor to add a Beserk PROC which grants +30% DMG when your HP is <20%? Reflect PROCs when you take a critical hit, Curse PROCs, AoE Stun PROCs.....the possibilities are endless!



The biggest issue is that there is no symbiotic relationship between what is in locked and what can be farmed. Add in some game mechanics where one relies on the other, and you create a huge improvement in the game, increase player build diversity, generate lots of income sources and encourage players to farm AND open locked.

As a s1 player I was very disappointed in the arrival of locks. Might have helped people farm to get them and sell but now its a waste of time. At 4k each locks are the biggest waste in farming time in the history of al. I know this personally because I have friends who have done 30 runs with lepre and lucm elix to get nothing. Boom -30k from your wallet. During s1 times were amazing. Farm to get wealthy. Merch. All of this was fun until locks were introduced. I personally know because due to the arrival of locks many veterans have quit because of this. For those who didnt play s1 a whole pro set was 6-10mil :). Everyone had a chance to get. Everyone had fun. Al has had less players since the arrival of locks. Your not gaining more players your loosing. When a new player joins in times like these most likely they will quit due to the challenging times we have today. If sts really cares about there players they will remove locks and find another they can make money so everyone would be satisfied. Have us farm for arcanes and mythics make it hard but make it farmable so everybody does work and earns there way to the top. If this happens people will most likely buy loads of anks, respec scrolls with platinum. Please bring back the old days so we can all be happy :). Thank you for reading this.

Awful idea, that means 30percent more arcanes will be on the market devaluing everything, hate to be selfish but I open crates to make profit on some luck everynow and then , not to have arcanes be under 5m and barley cover crate costs.
