Tarlok gems sighh more essences wuuuut O.O

I already farmed in Halloween HOURS to have about 150 Essences EACH fire/blood/glacial wich i keeped for this winter event.
Now my question is;
We need 2 ice dragon scales essences to craft those tarlok gems.. Thats 11 essences in total for only 1 gem is that not a bit TO MUCH???
Why we need them now.. They dont give a single thing more than the older tarlok gems.. I hope you buff those gems with a bit of crit or armor or dodge, Because i dont get it why we need those 2 ice dragon scales essences for. They dont give any more stats so we farm for something useless.. Why can't it be same like previous event??
