ok so when I fight guadians I crit for less then my normal damage my damage is 103 on my lvl 8 mage so to boss im doing about 78 with crit on lightning (20% upgrade) I do 11 WTF

Depending on who you are fighting, a lot of the bosses have armor reinforcement buffs. Frelleus for example receives armor bonuses for standing in his own Ice Pools, and Teros of the Guardians shields himself (complete with blue shield around him). Sounds like you were attacking during one of those mechanic moments and thus seeing lower numbers as a result.
