View Full Version : Does anyone know where the magic gem needed for crafting L15 mage stuff is found

I want to create level 15 sorcerer's robe it requires a magic gem
but the gem is not offered anywhere either as a quest item or for purchase?

How does one obtain it?

Gems are random dropped by Forest Haven bosses or you can buy one in the CS.

You can obtain one from me, for the right price. ;)

All of my gem drops (I think I have at least one of each of the six gems) came from farming Meathead's Deli. Tedious, but something I can do on a laggy 3G connection for 5-10 minutes at a time to get a PL fix, when I'm away from a more stable 3G or WiFi connection.

Edit: Checked my stash... lo, and behold, I don't have a Magic Gem yet.

I wish the store sold cloth its going to weeks of lost time to collect cloth scraps
to make cloth to make the items. all with no xp.

Consignment shop in fort begstone. It is the large room with people standing on chests. Click on them and you'll see several item for sale by players. You can also sell your own.

there are checks along all the parts but not the formula itself? Where does that come from?

Are the formulas sold? quested for?

Now here is the hard part...you have to loot the recipe. I've been trying to find a pink lvl 5 or 15 one for days now. Good luck!

FH4 or Deli are good places to get gem drops.
I got a L15 recipe in FH4 last night using a L51 mage. Best part was the magic gem it needed dropped about a 15 minutes earlier.

The daily quests should allow you to craft a cloth sheet per day, if that's what you want.

Who would (what mob) carry it? I'm hunting with at level 25+
for level 15 so I probably wont get xp for the hunting. I'd like
to concentrate on areas where the target mobs are likely
to be found.

On the cloth quests being restricted to once each every day,
I'm still unclear how this is beneficial. It bad enough to have to
'grind' to collect the scraps (for no XP). but once the scraps are
collected one is forced to wait until the next day to start again,
wasting even more time. I think having the final quest completion
reset the counter so the first quest can be rerun is a better approach.

I just fought meathead about 10 times -- I got a bunch of mage hats and
mage hats of wisdom, a couple of staves, and a few things for other classes
-- but no recipes or gems. Am I fighting the mob that carries them??

You'll have to do it much more than ten times.. more like 100-200 times I'm guessing.

Tsarra is keeping a chart of drop rates (http://www.spacetimestudios.com/showthread.php?19132-Meathead-s-Deli-Crafting-Drops-Chart) for Meathead's Deli. According to that, the gems drop roughly 1.4% of the time. That's about 71-72 bosses, on average, or once per 24 runs of the Deli.

Recipes are rarer than that, by at least 1/2 as much. The deli also drops other crafting components, like the cloth scraps, etc. I've not seen thread, rivets yet though.

More than half. I've gotten at least 10 gems and no recipes. (Got a Magic Gen drop today, actually, finally. Went straight to stash...)
