guys i was just wondering
if i put like all my points in int
like im lvl 33 now, and i just changed to a pure dex enchant from a pure INT mage, but im thinking of changing back to pure INT mage :P
would it make my mage hit really really inaccurately?

if yes, then could you tell me then min dex i should have to make my life easy for the rest of the game? :P

and do my skill spells like lightening also depend hitting or missing on my dextery??

you would be less accurate but not to the point where you won't hit anything. IMO I love pure int mage till I hit 50 where I changed to dual spec. Dex gives you more hit and crit% and more damage while int gives you damage from skills more mana and mana regen. You can also get gear that boosts you hit to compensate for the loss or you could also put enought points on int to wear int gear for your level and put the rest on dex if you like.

My level 51 (as of last night) pure INT mage has well over 100% hit rate. Considering that what I'm reading from other people's testing that anything about 85% is wasted (the game engine seems to cap at 85%), the only reason to be worried about Hit % after 85% is for PvP play, due to debuffs.

What is this about an 85% cap?

I think the hit cap is 100 and you have to take into consideration that dodge is also affected. Physiologic has a thread about this.

Here's the thread in question (http://www.spacetimestudios.com/showthread.php?16817-Guide-to-Advanced-Mechanics-in-PL-DPS-Crits-etc.), and a relevant quote:

So in short, the results with the Sunblessed Set are as follows (n=500):
- With a Hit% of 135, there was an 82% chance of successful hits.
- With a Hit% of 160 (Focus), there was an 85% chance of successful hits.
- There doesn't seem to be a numeric enemy DODGE factor, but a hit% cap of 82-85%.
- Focus may serve to decrease the amount of times you MISS an enemy.

These results closely match the Void set results from my Critical Hits section (n=100):
- With a Hit% of 140, there was an 84% chance of successful hits.
- With a Hit% of 165 (Focus), there was an 85% chance of successful hits.

Very interesting read from Physio-genius. What I am thinking is that the "miss" issue is actually a bug. :P

Well if you really like int and you want to make the most damage possible this is the alternative. You can always dual spec dex/int. I like survivability so I chose str dual spec but you lose damage and mana regen. Try it out and see how it works for you.

I remember a player posting that int mage is expert mode and he couldn't be more right. To be kept alive on int you need a lot of skills and luck at least on high level dungeons and on some bosses you will have to rely on tank pots unless you have good gear to boost your armor.

Keep in mind that I only tested the hit% cap value at Alien Oasis 3: Close Encounters. This value may differ throughout each campaign/enemy/boss.

True capped hit% is highlighted in pink for Alien Oasis 3. Total amount of data collected for this trial was 1,700 (yes, I had to record 1700 hits/misses/dodges).

Amount of MISS's from this run was variable, so I may need to test again.
