Don't open locks. Trust me you will more than likely crash and burn.

Buy energy or ankhs and turn it into gold. You can buy reroll elexirs to farm which will also generate much more gold than lock poppin.

Buy leprechaun amulet if you don't have it. Farm brackenridge with 30min luck lixer. Get around 3-6 locks per 30min. Stash them and wait till event comes and sell them. I must admit, farming locks is boring, but it's very worth it. When I was famring locks I set a goal for either 25 or 50 locks a day. Good Luck!
