Weapon choice for PvE

I've recently got my Mage to lvl 41 and I was wondering which kind of weapon you all prefer. For pve which kind of weapon is better: expedition rifle or planar staff??

Expedition brut for bosses and planar rod for mobs...regarding planar rod, it's your choice

Expe brut for bosses and max level planar/magma/archi/nordr jewel potency staffs depending on which proc I prefer. I use potency staffs for the huge health boost with not much damage loss compared to brut versions.

Thanks for the thoughts, I've been using magmatic staff and I like the proc. I'll also probably get a expedition rifle to have with me for bosses then :D
