Just a head's up on the new sewer queen staff

So I hear many people talking about the new staff as if it's the new must have enchantress item. A couple people said they were disappointed because they had just bought MM gemstone staffs before it came out. I just wanted to clarify what the new staff is. While very cool looking, stats-wise it is just a variation on the Mega Mage Gemstone staff with some bonus points shuffled around. Basically the MM Gemstone staff has 2 more damage, 2 more M/s, and 2 more armor, while the Sewer Queen staff has 6 H/s. So which is better? Anyone who knows me, knows I don't think H/s is at all valuable for an Int mage, particularly for PvE, and IMO the MM Gemstone staff is still the best singe target staff in the game. Then again, I'm also a sucker for snazzy looks, so I'll probably get one of the new SQ staffs too ;)

Have not heard anything, so probably there isn't one. However, they did say to look for more soon in the patch notes, AO maybe it'll come out today ;)

AND this staff ist not from the MEGA MAGE series, so probably wont be a set part in the future.... just think about before buying...

On both counts... MM is better but damn it, the Queen's looks cool and not pink, and who can't use a little style over substance sometimes... ;) ... just need to it make an AOE lightning staff now.... *evil grin*

Any confirmation on which Boss drops it. Myst's post said King/Queen, but last night I spoke to somebody who said they had just seen one drop off Gold Fever. I hope STR weapon is there but hasn't been found (maybe on my next run :))

I still think that the mega mage gemstone staff is the staff to get. With any luck, this will drive down prices for the other staffs - blast staffs are now pretty cheap.

I need someone to confirm this, but I would assume that the effects to spell damage are the same compared to the gemstone and blast staff. (If it's more, then perhaps getting the staff is justifiable).

The only difference in skill damage is that Mega Mage has 2 more base damage than Sewer Queen. So all skills will do 2 more damage with either of the MM staffs (Gemstone or Gem Blast) than with the SQ staff.

i'm still a sucker for the sewers staff. I find that having 6 h/s is reasonable while adding an extra 2 damage to each spell doesn't add much...as a mage already has enough power to wipe out anyone with a combo. That 6 h/s makes a difference for me when it just comes down to health (no mana left) in a one vs. one for five vs. five match.

EDIT: and does the sewers staff also have more DPS? i don't have my ipod with me at the moment but DPS with 6 H/S can make a big difference.

No the Mega Mage version has slightly higher DPS than the SQ. PvP is the only place I could even imagine someone choosing the SQ staff, but you'd probably be better off with a wand anyway. The two gemstone staffs are really close, 6 stat points shifted around hardly makes a difference one way or the other, but the MM version definitely has a slight edge IMO, and when set bonuses come, if only Mega Mage items count, the SQ will be nothing but a vanity item. Besides, if you really want H/s, the enchanted gemstone staff has more than the SQ, and also has more armor and more damage.

True royce but enchanted gemstone staff lacks in M/S i believe. I tested with some top mages and staff beats wand any day...that's unless you're one of the best.

EDIT: I also find that enchanted items cost more so IMO it makes more sense for now to buy the sewers staff. It may not be as good as the other staff but it sure does cost less. (I still like Sewers Staff :D)
