Delete the characters of the people who reserve names

I know that mods prolly don't even check this section out anymore cuz of AL, but.. I wish they would delete the characters that aren't being used.. Selfish players just reserving names just because they want to. It isn't very fair.. After months of inactivity at level 1 your character should be deleted, now I think some ppl think they're smart and would just make it lvl 2 but how about after awhile of inactivity of someone under a lvl of 30 should be deleted just thoughts I know I can't be the only one tired of using randoms names like XxxxxKillerxxx or something crappy like that..

But its not fair for all the other players.. People with 4 or 5 original names? U don't need that much and most of them don't PvP lvl 1 just reserving the namw

They got the names they should be allowed to do what they want with them be original if we saw all cool names in pvp they wouldn't be cool anymore.

In a majority of the games in this world.. They have this system where if a player has reserved a name for too long without activity they would be sent a warning before deletion and if not active again deleted its only fair u can't have all the good names with the 5million other people who's downloaded this game.. Plain selfish probably over 12,000 good names reserved

Why does it matter? You can easily make up super cool names, and if ur best idea is xxxxxxkillerxxx than you might be one of the most uncreative players evaaaa.

I didn't say that was my name just an example :)

Character deletion should never be based on level. We are already second tier players as it is (can not access stash and cs, can not trade potions, can not complete more than 100 quests etc.). I knew what I was getting into, so I am not complaining about that. However I would very much dislike if I would have to log in every month just to ensure that my characters do not get deleted.

You can still obtain "reserved" names if you contact support and it turns out that the name belongs to a banned account. It costs 50 platinum though.

Anyway, I still have no idea why people worry so much about names... It is just like an ID number. Who cares if your ID is 1337 or something random like 2283. Having a cool name is only to impress strangers. Is that what you need? Confirmation from strangers that you are infact cool? You know, if you dislike your name, you can just hide it and demand from all your friends that they call you "Mr. Cool".

There is however a bright side to your idea. It would certainly help to rearrange some gold and distribute it more evenly among the players (could lead to more scams though).

I Think that if a player has a banned acc and has been banned for more than a month the names should be deleted. IMO

I agree that there should be some kind of method to reclaim unused names. After 5 years it's really hard to make a name that doesn't require a lot of padding with nonsense characters. However, reclamation should be based on activity, not level. If an account has had no activity for a while, there should be an email to the account warning that it's up for deletion. If no activity happens, then the account is deleted and the names of any characters are freed up.

This would free up only those accounts that have truly been abandoned. Anyone who wants to keep their account (and the associated names) need only log in once in a while to keep it. Most systems with a limited namespace work this way, e.g. Google voice reclaiming unused phone numbers.

It seems to me that 6 months of no activity would be sufficient, but it could be a year or even 2. At PL's age, even an overly-generous 2 year idle period would doubtless reclaim a good chunk of abandoned names from oblivion.

Everyone gets enjoyment different ways in the game. One of my enjoyment is collecting items :). Why should I lose my items and my enjoyment because you want a name?

Yes, yes I could. In fact I am giving away all my gold/items soon and this would not affect my current PL experience at all. You see I am level one and I do not need gold or some rare expensive items for pvp.


How does a name change your game play?
I am sure it would change his experience. He obviously puts a lot of value in the image of his character and I am guessing that he would get a lot of enjoyment when strangers would tell him what a cool name he has.

Not having gear or gold then applies to u and prob a very very few others. How many players only have a lvl 1 with no want or need for gold or gear?

As for the name. I said game play. Meaning the the mechanics, leveling and quests. Not the social aspect. A name has no effects on achievements, quests, skills or stats.

I do see your point. Everyone enjoys different things about the game. But my work, items and enjoyment shouldn't be ruined because someone came late to the game and feels the need for a name.

This is why they should only delete inactive accounts as a whole. If you log in once in a while, all your characters should be safe, whether or not you ever actually do anything with them. It's only if someone has clearly abandoned the entire account that the names should be recovered.
