Just realised while running a friend that in the description it says that the two spells do so much damage over time, this is not the case. They both do all their damage at once. Tested on multiple enemies at different levels. Always the case.

They do a base damage and on top of that they also do damage over time.

Not really a bug, they just didn't put in the skill description that they both do damage, and Thorn Root has a bleed proc and Thorn Wall has a dodge reduction proc.

I rechecked, wasn't doing damage overtime at all.

It does, I'm not exactly sure on figures but im certain it does.

I've tried killing/being killed by a thorn wall/root. It doesn't even register who you kill or who killed you, you just die from the DoT.

i just killed 300 zombies. It does the initial damage then nothing.

EDIT: I'm refering to both spells.

Mmm maybe it's noticeable in Pvp only? I haven't noticed much in pve since it doesn't actually have time to do the DoT before mobs die.
