Mythic Planar Relic

What is this? I know it's used for gathering the relic things in Planar Tombs but is it just something that sits in your inventory allowing you to do so or do you have to wear it? If you have to wear it to collect them are there any stats it gives? Thanks!

You put in your inventory when you go into Arena and bosses drop their respective essences which are used to craft essences to Cleansed Essence which is used to craft the Planar Pendant
