Hey guys, I never PVP because everyone is doing it wrong. CTF stands for capture the flag. If you don't know the rules, check it out here. http://www.wikihow.com/Play-Capture-the-Flag
If STS doesn't want to organize this, maybe we should start CTF tournaments ourselves. So if anyone wants to start these tournament, sign up here by stating your name, class, and guild.

I will try to base these tournaments on skill to make it fair.

Obee I commend you on your attempts but the system is flawed in that players are rewarded for ctf kills... So to get players to care about flags is difficult especially when most flaggers do so untouched while the other players massacre eachother.

However I'm sure players are willing to do this so it you feel the urge organize a tournament :-)

Yea unfortunately they are blinded by stupid AP's and the leaderboard. It pisses me off since I can't ever play CTF.

I suggested a long time ago that there be a stat called "team flags" where each member of the team gets a flag when your team scores, and another stat called "team flags against" where you get a point if the other team scores. Then your goal would be to have a good ratio of flags/flags against. This would encourage players to act as an escort to protect the flagger, and would encourage players on the other team to try to kill the flagger, which of course is the whole idea of CTF.

Any time you want to accomplish something in this game, you need to use the horse and carrot idea... Give a reward for people doing what you want. If you want them to play CTF, you have to do something to encourage it.

All joking aside, we cannot fix it via the people - the act itself would require arduous effort not to mention completely asinine to attempt. Energizeric's solution is a good solution. If only developers would implement it...

Honestly, this problem with ctf could be solved, if STS just made the kill count for TDM more, 20 kill count is WAY too low. Better to have 40 :) double that stuff up, that'll increase killing in TDM, and increase Actual CTF in the CTF map. Only way, I honestly think its kinda stupid to only have 20 kill count, 40 or even more would be great T_T .

But, if you add more kills allowed here, it inversely encourages kill farming because, you and your dummy can join and farm more kills at at time without having to start a new game where actual players are. I dislike the 20 kill count in TDM, but, I absolutely loathe kill farmers and the like.

Pvp system in AL is broken. In many mmos, pvp is a massive content with many features and goals.

In a larger picture, you fight for your fraction. Or if the game is like a sandbox mmo, guilds band together to fight and hold a Fort / Castle that benefits the guild and alliances as a whole. Here specific classes are required with specific roles to defend, scout, hold a break in point (tanks required here), etc.

In a more personal part of pvp, there are pvp arena. You take part to climb a pvp ladder to get pvp points to get pvp specific gears that make one OP in pvp and the effects should not spill over to pve content. Not just your name plastered on some meaningless leaderboard.

The pvp content grows and balance is maintained. Anyone who choose one class and play it really well should be able to handle any class in pvp. Some better than the other. Then you would have to tweak your build if you need to be more effective against another class.

Anyone who is into pvp will understand this. If you don't then you probably did not pvp much in AL and partake in pvp related content in the other mmos you played (notice the detail - I used and - which means you have to do both to really have some experience to compare pvp in a non bias way). Or you have been into pure role playing games.

Of course there are many other pvp content I have not mentioned. But balance is key for every one of them regardless of complexity.

STG please wake up. The moment you think you are the greatest and that you have reached the pinnacle you stop improving on things. Least I remind you that pvp content is a major content in any great mmo. Neglect this and you will end up closing off this game eventually. A full pvp focused mmo is also incomplete without pve. Just focus on AL and drop your new pvp focused title, for the sake of yourselves and the community. WOW lasted for 10 years. Why not AL?

How can you say a system is broken when theyre acting within the paramaters of the AL PVP game design and mechanics you are clearly expecting a pvp system intended for other games.

Anyway @topic I commend you for at least trying to set up a match where the flag actually is involve - but without incentives from STS people might be skeptical or I could be wrong.
