Siekel stood up and dusted off his leathers, checked his auto-bow, and straightened the feather in his cap. "Maybe it's time to grow up and find a stable job" he though to himself, as the glitz of being a bandit was wearing out rapidly.
It must have been the zombie invasion that brought him to this low state, he pondered; his cousin's trading company overrun by the shambling dead. He fled the family perch and took shelter in the sewers, where he became a thug for the bandits that had called the sewers their home for years.
Unfortunately, since Balefort Castle's siege and subsequent rescue by the dubious presence of a horde of mercenaries, freebooters, and self-proclaimed "heroes", the bandit trade foundered and shriveled. It's much harder to shakedown a hearty and well-armed group of sociopaths than it is a weary and frightened traveler who took a wrong turn.
Now he stood guard over the chest that contained a set of false documents, meant to lead the swarms of crazies who ran free in the sewers, regularly barely hearing the explosions and screams before the rolling juggernaut of sparks and glittering armor bore down on him and pummeled him into unconsciousness. only to do it again in a handful of minutes as a different group swooped through and did the same.
"I wonder if Hawken is accepting applications?" he mumbled, as the hallway around the corner burst into bright colors and guttural bellowing.
