The only difference I see in their stats is in the damage range. Is the DPS about the same? What other differences am I missing?

I think the 1H swords give the most damage among all the weapons.

The way I understand it is that different weapon types give a different portion of their damage to skill damage. In our case, 1H swords give the most.

The 1H swords give higher skill damage than the 2H weapons even.

Yep, However the Gurgox hammer adds more skill dmg then the scimmy

Yeah. The base damage of G.Hammer is so huge that it overwhelms the fact that its only level 50 vs a level 55 1h sword :)

I noticed a full bellow set beats the skill damage of a gurgox hammer with bellow armours though :)

huh. I always looked at the damages between comparable level swords and axes and found the swords left wanting. I sort of leveled to 50 before I understood the mechanics of this game though.

The 55 Axe shows higher damage in the attributes vs a 55 1H Sword, but if you look at the skill damage between both, 1H swords have more :)

Try using full Bodyguards 55 items. Check the damage.

I dont want the sword. Not just because of price, I just really like the axe. It was the first sewer item I wanted, and the last one I got.

1h axe more dps regular damage , 1h sword more skill damage slash, stomp

Sword is a part of the set, and gives a set bonus. The sword also has more skill damage, while the axe has eight (8) more base damage. I believe the sword has a soul leech proc too, not confirmed, but I know I soul leeched in catacombs (which may just be a bug like the freeze proc)

The sword is the best in all sets atm due to it gets a set bonus and that set bonus does it have higher dps. If you dont have a full set i think the axe is better dps.
