Everyone on my twitter feed is going crazy over this. Personally I can see both different color sets. But what do you see?

Most people see black and blue, but others see gold and white, what do you see?

Most people who see those colors first stay fixed on it, but most who start on gold and white eventually see both.

I've found that if you surround the picture with gold and white, and close your eyes every one in a while, you can see white and gold, but if any hint of blue or purple is around all I see is black and purple.

I just thought it would be fun to see what y'all see ;)

Fun until you get into an argument with your friend about what colour it is! I only see black and blue no matter how I change the picture.

I just want to know how it's two different things! I literally opened this thread and saw gold and white, scrolled down, looked back up and it was black and blue... So...

I see only the reworked corpses of thousands of tortured cotton fibers screaming for peace from beyond a stygian inescapable grave.

Unless it's made of polyester.
Then I see polyester.

1. You misspelled "dress" wrong in thread title :(
2. This is "Off-Topic" Discussion :(
3. The dress is an iridescent dress of sorts, it changes color depending on lighting/angle, plus due to the way your eyes work, different people will view it differently due to their eye's rods and cones 0.0

This has been all over the internet. A photoshop guy said it's actually orange and blue or something like that based on a number of things. It looks white and gold for me, but from a different angle, it actually looks blue and black.

I see white and gold too, but if I back up from the screen and narrow my eyes, I can see the blue and black starting to come through. It's a very interesting play in lighting.

If the lighting of the place where the pic was taken was white than its blue and black. If the lights were blue or like ultraviolet its white and gold.

The dress is actually blue and black.

The reason that people see different colors is something called color constancy. Because the brain sees shadows it compensates for those shadows. The people who see white and gold are assuming that there is a blueish light in the room and compensating for the blue. While the people who see blue and black are assuming that the dress is in an artificially lighted room with a more yellowish lighting.

Solved.
K.
Thx.

There was a fanfic written about this dress. I for one find this hilarious.

"Kent is a man with a problem, floundering in the gay dating scene as he looks for something that doesn’t seem to exist, a man who is wild, adventurous and rugged while still being smart, gentle and sophisticated.

Just when Kent is certain that he’ll never find the best of both worlds, he meets Channing, a living gay dress who is famous online for appearing black and blue to some, and gold and white to others.

It’s not long before Channing shows Kent that it’s all about perspective, in a hardcore gay love affair that will reveal once and for all just what color the dress really is.""

P.S. It's available as an ebook
