Hello.

Can anybody tell me' what pings are?

I am an enchantress and was wondering if I can use a magic staff and have a shield at the same time?

Ping is the speed of the internet connection you have. You cannot use a staff and a shield at the same time, but you can use a wand and shield/bracer.

ping is your response time in a ping from your device to the sever.
its a indication of hopw good a connection you have.

The less the ping the faster the response. the more the ping the more lag you get and poorer game experience.

the ping value is the time that it takes to send a data packet to the server and back in milliseconds. an ideal ping value is zero, which is instantaneous. the standart good ping value in PL is anywhere from 100 to 250

and in order to use a shield, you need to use one of the following:

one handed sword
one handed club
one handed axe
throwing talon
one handed dagger
wand
dagger

and a shield of some sort

So last week I'm farming & notice bad lag, ok pings gone up no big keep goin, & watch stunned as the ping goes up to 55k plus. What the duece caused that? I logged out just to be safe.

Actually it is possible to hold a wand and shield simultaneous. Only not both lvl 55 :)
