Would anyone be kind enough as to help me out with build/gear. I have no idea what I'm doing :)

Hey evil, so for a 25 mage:
GEAR:
Halloween bone armor
Halloween bone helm
Pink 25 paw
Pink 25 evidence braver
Damage/hit% ring
BUILD:
6 bom
4 bov
1frost
6 light
1 fire
1 Drain
4 heal
1 ms
ATTRIBUTES:
Some Dex for ring/hit%
Rest int (4 heal will act like 6 heal to a Dex mage)
I'd pm Wrathfulbeast or Swagtony in game for help.

Also, tony beat blitz both on bear and Mage.
In fact, tony was one of the original pvpers at 26, while blitz was not. Blitz did 35.

I dont know about you guys, but I never use 6 Bom on my L25 mage. Never. It was either 3,4,5, or none at all. I put more points into heal.

And I used no ms. At least, I didn't believe in ms at that time, due to the popularity of fbow and paw mages back then. Ms will kill you if you dont time it correctly.

There is more SSC mages than paw mages, as far as I can tell, so MS is actually more viable than it used to be.

I still dont believe in Ms. Well... Maybe I think this because I cant time it LOLOLOLOL. But I do fine without ms. More points into heal = more sustain. More sustain = win more games. Winning more games = eternal happiness. Eternal happiness = You wont want to kill yourself because you failed to ms correctly.

Ms= more sustain.... in fact it can be approximately two times your max hp if you time it right.

Sorry but when weren't they viable? I did 23 pre fbow & it was pretty viable for me.

Back prenerf ms really couldn't save you at all due to you being nuked so hard.

1 frost 6 light 1 icestorm 3 fire 1 drain 1 ms 6 bom 4 bov 1 heal, 22 int all dex!
Use hallo int set, Forg 25 pink or paw int set setup.
Combo: frost light fire drain, heal when you think is the right time to heal.
Ring: Champion's fine band or acrobat's (2 dodge ring)
Face: Lynx or mystic elf, crit face seems useless.

I found 6 bom 6 light 4 heal 4 bov 1 frost 1 fire 1 drain 1 ms to be the most consistent but its pretty boring and you have to know 8m range to kite bears.

Still would work :P I used 3 fire because I prefer 10m of fire against bears, instead of 8m fire.

If anyone ever needs help with 8m Fire kiting I can help. I think I've mastered it at that level. I do it so well to the point that I beat most 30 bears.

Yeah same thing as mine but -2bom +2heal.
Wonder if a 5 bom 3 heal would bridge the gap between armor and heal...I'd have to try that out.

Or you could just -1bov +1heal and use a 8arm ring.

Yes we are. I simply said it would be better to -1bov and +1heal because bov gives +8 arm and you can just use a ring that give +8arm instead.

Which prenerf are you talking about cus from the 22-27 pvp where I'm from, the skill of it was the ms timing & the ability to nuke ppl before they msed. Much like mage vs mage at 66 imo.

I enjoy just nuking, so this build will be nuke. Not much sustain. It's what I used for my 27 mage, but it is also for 25-26 mages (If you remove BoV - 1 point from firestorm).
Stats:
52/55 Int, rest Dex (Preferred)
22 Int, rest Dex
Gear:
L25-27 Pink Forgotten Bow
L25 Dex Hallo Helm
L25 Dex Hallo Armor/L15 Alchemist Armor
L25 Int Crystalline/Earthquake Set + L10 Int Mage Plat Pack/L5 Alchemist for regen.
Build:
1 BoV (or none at all)
6 BoM
1 Heal
4 Drain
6 Light
1 Frostbite
6 Firestorm (or 5 firestorm)
1 Mana Shield

I partially agree with ^ but I have to be honest I prefer a bit more sustain when using nuke mages. 3 heal 2 drain usually keeps you alive for another couple seconds, usually long enough to kill a debuff or dmg bear.
I just feel that today's combat doesn't fair well off 1 heal as it isn't very good when dealing with teamers + just isn't/wasn't enough sustainability when I do 25/27 mage

I disagree. Paired with ms + some M/s regenerating gears, mana shield is enough to put your weight on. However this build isn't really for much besides nuke rushing (which is quite fun imo). If you'd like a build that carries you, I recommend having at least 4 heal, 3 would take a bit more skill to work with unless you've mastered using the skill Drain.
