Season leaderboards

I just had a question in mind and that's if the season leaderboard resets every new expansion as of now we are in season 7 how long will the season last until season 8 is released people told me its when a new expansion is out. If so the seasons get longer and longer because expansions take longer to develop so people will have to wait months or even a year just to get there season banners for the furture

They did a season change with the release of the planar arena in the fall. It did not come with a new level cap, but season banners were awarded at that time. So basically expansion = new level cap and new season, but new season doesn't necessarily mean expansion + new level cap.
