Hello, I'm posting to let everyone know, I am safe and okay in Japan. I made a topic a month or two ago stating I was going to teach there. I had left on my flight on March 7th and arrived in Japan on March 9th, just 2 days before the disaster.

Luckily for me, I was sent to teach in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan so I'm quite far from the biggest hit area. We were hit here in Tokyo as well but not nearly as hard, not much damage just a few shaken buildings.

My time online is limited since I have been quite busy around town checking on stuff and people to see if anyone needs help. Our power is being cut daily for 3 hours a day to conserve energy.

Glad to hear that. I hope things don't get worse with the nuclear plant and all the other stuff occurring atm. Its been really sad to see this type of disaster.

I wish you the best as well. Hang in there. I often think of the people hit hard there. It's hard feeling like worlds away and you can't help....

I've been thinking about it, I think I am going to catch a flight home to the USA as soon as I can. Company I work for is offering us air fare back home, so I best get booking. I can't sleep which is why I'm up late here, (4:18am)..Sucks I have to put my career on hold I was looking forward to it, I suppose it was just not meant to be right now.

Sorry I'm still relatively new to Japan, I've not heard of or been to Sophia University, though if it is in Tokyo I'm sure it's fine. Tokyo was far from where the major damage is.

Have you looked into other opening in Asia (Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia or Singapore would be nice options)? Perhaps this could be turned into a positive?

I haven't thought about other countries, because I just simply like Japan. I'm sure the option is there for me to work in countries other than Japan if I wanted to but I much prefer to teach in Japan I WANT to live in Tokyo, that is where I want to start my life. I will wait it out as I've been patient with even getting this far already, a longer wait can't hurt me.
