View Full Version : Why does 'Big Luck' give +2 armor on my Mage and only my Mage?? *Confused*

When equipping 'Big Luck' on my mage, it gives me 2 more armor (134->136), although it says +1 armor. I saw it before but discarded it as a possible buff or something. So I went somewhere alone again today, and I guess the screenshots say it all.
Not that I'm complaining or anything, but anybody has a sensible explanation for this?
My stats without any vanity item (armor: 134)

My stats with 'Big Luck' (armor: 136)

now my math could be a bit rusty, but 134+1=136??
For comparison, here's a screenie with another random vanity item:

I tried it on my bear and bird too, but no..eh..luck. It's almost magical :)

This happens with other gear/weapons too sometimes. I believe it's because all stats are rounded. So maybe your initial armor is somewhere between 134-135 and your armor with hat between 135-136, and some quirk of the rounding algorithm makes one display as 134 and the other as 136.

It's not a bug.
It's a feature!

+1
I think you're onto something. Not with this particular case, but I've seen my stats round up once in a while when I'm switching other gear around.

@Kalielle
I thought this too at first, that's why I posted a screenshot with another vanity item that doesn't show this bug/feature. It seems only logical that all vanity items add exactly the same amount of armor, therefore a rounding error wouldn't explain this specific case. I know what you mean though, I've seen it before too.

But what if they don't all add the same amount of armor? Maybe some hats add, say, 1.5 armor.

Well, it works like this, all stats are rounded to the nearest tenth.
Lets say your total armor = 134.00445
Lets say vanity items = 1.00555 armor
Once you add them, you get 135.01000, or 136 armor, if that makes sense.
Hope that helps.
Note: None of the items in the game are actually just the stated amount. Vanity is not a perfect 01.00 in the system, it is a large decimal number which does not equal one, just rounded.

That happens to me, just equip the vanity which gives u the most armor, and vise versa.

That makes perfect sense :) I didn't realize the armor rating wasn't a perfect 1 or could vary slightly per item.
Thanks for clearing that up!
@Kalielle
Seems you were right all along ;)
