Please give everyone under 50 posts a 3 thread per hour limit or something similar.

Can't someone just have 50 posts then spam? IMO I think it should be like a 1 thread every 20 minutes or something along those lines ;?

It will take something like 17 hours to post 50 constructive post before spamming. The spambot doesn't have time to create that much constructive posts. Limiting the number of posts to 3 per hour can slow him down. Zylx, the problem is still unsolved tho. We are looking for a way to block him from posting any spam at all, not only slowing him. If only we can find out if he is a bot from the very beginning!

My two cents:

New forumers can post new threads, BUT they will not show until a moderator has approved them. If the thread is constructive, the mod approves and it will show in the forums! SO basically, the new forumer would create ghost threads and a little message will appear, saying that the post must be approved by the moderator. The Spambot can post as much threads as he wants, and not even understand he is wasting time!

I will actually send this to mods 0.o

So I've been thinking of a theory about that spam bot.

I've noticed that he only puts up an advertisement for a country only Once.
Example: the bot posts the advertisement about being located in CountryA; next, it posts a thread for its ad in CountryB, etc.
But the bot never (at least not from what I seen) posts the same thread about a country it had already posted about.

(Disclaimer: This is just a theory; I don't really know how spambots work (other than the fact that they post constant threads), so if this theory is false..sorry)

Make a new forum website...

Make a new forum website...

I don't think that will help...
also vBulletin forums are expensive (over $200 each)

I suggest slightly changing the URL for creating new threads, just a little difference, not noticeable unless looked at letter for letter.
that way, if the bot can't find the correct URL for creating new threads, it will not be able to make any threads at all
