If you had to pick between the two, which would it be? 5% crit or 25 dex?

Is the HP loss of crit passive instead of dex worth the crit increase?

76 or so hp versus 5% crit

I'll go with 5% crit. The extra 125 hp from dex as a mage isn't that attractive for me. You can always spec 25 dex for this which equates to about 4 skill points (we get 6/level) vs a whole 5 for the same stat.

Hmmm...you alwo need to keep in mind that the STR points added(does the passive add STR points?) are necessary for your shield...

We are discussing dex here and shield dmg absorption calculation isn't affected by dex :)

Take the 5% crit. It'd help you better knowing how you play ^_^

I know that, im not that bad, was pointing out loosing some STR can affect the gameplay, and Alhunt mainly does PvP. ;D

He wanted to know if the loss STR with the gain of crit, he wanted to know if the trade off is good enough for him to manage. I pointed that out as he mainly PvPs and i know what happens him.

I dont know what build he has, but he is able to manage PvP better than me...

Not any more unfortunately. Farming for that goshdarned mythic amu. Good one STS, now I have to actually (shudder) PvE.

Since I'll eventually be getting the amu, a HP loss of around 100 shouldn't be too bad for 5% crit. Then again I'll probably be getting both.

Incidentally, for the mythic amulet users - how much crit does it have on its base stats if any?

25+ Dex is so much better. It gives you extra health and a lot more damage. Health and damage are more valuable than just 5% crit.

Mythic amulet doesnt give a straight crit% bonus. It does give 38 to dex, so whatever that equals out to in crit % you will get though.

Dex! gives health & dmg. Not choosing crit because basically Sorc crit is low, so adding 5% not to influential, not like on Rogue & Warr that have high crit. IMO good crit if the total more than 40%. My sorc, if added with 5% crit (Pet blinky), just above 25%, not enough.

If I were you, I'd mix and match if the results are noticeable. Both crit and dex is important in PvP (last I checked). Dex not only gives small bonus of hp and crit, but also some dmg as well. And 25 dex might not mean much, but all those dex points you may have (100+) adds up to a lot of good stats. Crit is also very important but as long as you're in the 30-33%+ range, you should be good to go.

It's not the way as it was in the old days, Now we have Enchanted eye of syrillax, a gem that gives 0.97% more crit if you previously have 1 gem on an equipped gear. Rogues go with 40-50%+ with sams nowadays...

Even mages are more competitive, they've been buffed finally :D

Basically 2 points should summarize this up for you:

1) Mages have been buffed
2) Eye gems are OP, they can balance the excess paracelsus soulstones and thus a mage can hvae damage +critical + hp. So...this is a good gem for a mage
