Ok. By now all of us android users are tired of not being able to do a good screen capture video. However, I found some resources today that allow me to atleast make a screen capture. The downside, in a nut shell FRAME RATE. I found an open source piece of software as well as the source code. I need someone really familiar with java to see if they can find and change the max fps variable setting. This would really help all of us that want to take video of our games.

The software is droid@screen. Here is a link to the webpage (http://blog.ribomation.com/2010/01/droidscreen/) which has a link to the source code. Lets see if we can do something about it.

I already spoke to the creators of Ashot (Android Screenshot/Screencast tool (http://www.mightypocket.com/2010/09/installing-android-screenshots-screen-capture-screen-cast-for-windows/)) and they said that FPS is slow due to current "architectural limitations" for the Droid. I don't think you can go beyond 3 FPS atm.

the droid@screen runs at around 20 or so the code says

I've tried that too but it's exceedingly slow as well for me, nearly comparable to the Ashot's FPS (I only know because I used both of them to shoot my new player's guide video for that contest). I have an idea of what 20-30 FPS feels like and using his script I still got ~3 FPS or so. I'm using the Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate.

You're right as usual. I hadn't tried the Ashot. I did late last night and basically came to the same conclusion. Man I hope someone does something. This is the one thing the android lacks.

If you're trying to record something flawlessly, the best thing you can do atm is to buy a TV out cable (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTQBAx_BDfk) and be able to record your television screen. The TV out jack is the same as the 3.5mm headphone jack but be wary that some Droid phone models may NOT have this hardware function enabled. Just make sure your phone supports TV out :)
