I get asked a lot about my stats and skills, so I thought I'll post them here, I hope that I can lure some fresh bears into these great forums...

Most of my settings I made after reading guides here, so it all should look familiar.

So let's start with my stats, naked, in str set and with bow. Click for the big pic...

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5026/5607020433_2d6b50c487.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/61613079@N07/5607020433/)

I'm wearing:
(str set) Royal helm and armor, Bodyguard shield, Plunger axe (still waiting for a Plunger sword drop) and a 8 armor ring
(recurve) All Standard Raid Roach, 11 damage ring
(talon) All Standard Raid Roach, 8 armor ring

Edit: Added my everyday raid roach talon set, for average mob clearing.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4111/5609769640_5ca9524b6d.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/61613079@N07/5609769640/)

And now my skills with their map:

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5106/5607020737_03de11d228.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/61613079@N07/5607020737/)

Taunt is low because I already get agro just by standing around when I wear my bow, restore isn't there because I don't pvp, and in pve there are health pots for that. ;-)

I always think about rearranging my skill map, but everyday I try I end up cursing, cause over the time I just got used to this map...

I'm sure I'm gonna play around with my stats and skills a lot, especially the dex / str mix. So if you have some tips or questions, please post them!

you had to post a pic of a awesome dex/str bear... now i have to choose between lv54-55 on mage or lv17-55 on bear... hard choice lol

I've ran with MrWallace a few times too, and it's been a joy. I think the latest time was through the shadow hunting for the Cyber quests. His tactical plans (when people followed them) was top-notch, especially since he also utilized the runs for farming by killing everything on the map, not just the two corridors.

Also, he's a nice guy.

I played with him just one run and everyone could tell right away he was an awesome tank. I was so disappointed when he took a break instead of returning when we remade...

But it was funny when we randomly ran into each other yesterday in Balefort on our secret alts - me on a level 10 and him 20ish or so. Started chatting after a few runs and exchanged the names of our mains. We were both like: "ohhh that's you?!!!" XD

Looking at the skills above, what amazes me is the 1 single point in Taunt. But it seems to get the job done quite well in practice. So maybe the old wisdom about maxing taunt should be reevaluated?

But lately I haven't been able to catch you hehehe! I've been running with mages most of the time now... :(

oh what can I say about MrWallace???

SPEEDY BEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh man it's never stop ending combos and he moves like gone with the wind. perfect wall setup every single time without fail and regardless of what level, class that runs with him, he will get the job done!!

It's so refreshing to see a chubby bear move like Wally, you dont see a bear with talon/wing everyday do ya??

Laviticus

I haven't played with MrWallace much with my bear Laviticus, but have with alt mage Ouran. And coming from one bear to another I can appreciate his play style. He gives us bears a good name. Thanks MrWallace ;)

He's right in that 1 point, especially since he doesn't do PvP, I would too. :)

OMG I'm blushing! Thank you for your compliments!

But as for every tank: Without the right team who kills my mob stacks I'm just an idiot standing in an angry crowd. And honestly, everyone I knew from reading this forum as a active member turned out to be a really good player when I met them in game. So: right back at ya!

Now I know all his secrets.. Mwahahaha!

I'll add mine here later, if you don't mind
Oh yes please!!! I already checked your spell map in the video, who can play like that??? :-) jk

His tactical plans (when people followed them) was top-notch
Most people call me bossy in those situations, but I'm glad you appreciate, Tengo! ;-) Too bad we never played some sewer runs together...

ran into each other yesterday in Balefort on our secret alts
Feeling very jamesbondy when you say it this way! ;-)

you dont see a bear with talon/wing everyday
Yeah seriously, what's with that? I've always thought that's the perfect mix of range and armor. You see that a lot on lower level pvp bears, but really never on 50+. I know it looks odd, but I really like it for the average mob clearing...

Goldfever is perfect to test how much taunt you need because you immediately see who has his agro. For me, 1 is enough, I only lose agro when chatting and forgetting to cast (sorry!) or when a bird with good gear on damage pot is in the group. But in those cases taunt at 6 wouldn't help either I guess

I don't think 6 Taunt/1 Taunt differ in aggro at all, it's just the dodge. That's the main reason why I go 6 Taunt, it buffs more dodge than Evade does, and keeps it on longer.

If I decide to stop PvP altogether, I would be an all around dex bear, with 1 taunt. :)

Thank you for sharing! I really appreciate it! It's interesting that although we're both same class, same level and str-dex dual, our chars are really different.
But now you gave me the idea that the crown is really useful for saving one loadout slot... *starting to calculate stats*

For perfect transparency I'll show my best kept secret here, been asked via pm and want to share with you all: Here are my lousy k/d stats, you can see I am constantly using less armor than I should... :-/ And also why I don't do pvp.

You're very right. I have yet to try and work on a talon/wing bear, never really got into it. :)

I wouldn't worry about K/D that much. Before I started BS my bear was at 6k/1k. Lol

I made several Stronghold runs with Mrwallace over the weekend. It made me really appreciate what a good bear brings to the group. With him "pulling" throughout the dungeon we cleared the mobs really fast.

Btw, if you haven't tried the "pulling method" to clear Stronghold.....you need to give it a shot. It's fast, fun and intense.

Indeed works very well for groups that work well with each other.

There's been much debate on the normal method vs this method, seems there isn't much difference between time and efficiency, and lies mostly on personal preference and group teamwork :)

You definitely have to have the right group make up. You're probably right, there's not that much difference in time. But it sure is fun to see a player chugging back to you dragging a long line of mobs and then the total chaos that follows....

I think my bear is still at that. What can I say, he's a former rush bear and now used exclusively for Stronghold roundups - both of which involve more tanking than kills.

Really need to get my dex gear transferred onto him one of these days...

Off topic-
Actually been playing with double pulls/roundups in the right areas. Assuming the group understands the concept of roundups...having two tanks pull from different sides with off-sync timing seems to speed mob clearing. The easiest example is just after the main room where one tank goes straight ahead and the other goes right and they both meet in the corner just past the bridge. Another area where I think you can do efficient double pulls would be in the main firetrap room where one tank pulls from the right towards the middle, while the other tank waits a few seconds and then starts a separate pull from the left towards the middle.

The problem is if you pull too many all at the same time, most nuke mages/dex birds will get aggro and get instakilled. Staggering the pulls allows enough of the first roundup to be killed and then allowing the damage dealers to keep killing the second roundup without having to move. This is an variation on how great bears perfectly time gathering mobs just in front of the party through the dungeon path-- only with bigger numbers.

On topic-
Whenever I have had the chance to run with MrWallace, I become his shadow -- where he goes I go. The whole "COMBO! COMBO! COMBO! COMBO! COMBO!" is just too fun not to do. Thanks for the great runs. BTW-- I've had the pleasure of running with Ellyidol as well -- and it's a whole lot of fun too.

Wow your skill build and skill combo is identical to mine but I skip restore.

I would too, and skip 5 points in Taunt even, but I seldom do PvP where I find it useful.

Restore mostly came from when Fury had massive 8 H/S per piece, I was getting 40 H/S when I had restore on, just kept it ever since :)

There's been much debate on the normal method vs this method, seems there isn't much difference between time and efficiency, and lies mostly on personal preference and group teamwork :)

I think for most group a "traditional" run is faster and more effective. But rounding up is just more fun, cause it seems kinda risky to pull those five extra mobs too. And after thousands of identical runs in the few sewer dungeons that is quite motivating, at least for me.
Fastest way I think would be to dual pull mobs, but you really need a team that knows exactly what the other one is doing.

Wish you would play a little more instead of talk though :P
Yeah you got me there, I actually spend more chatting than playing time in game... :-/ Chatty bear...

I also think Wallace and I can attest first-hand that dex gear just totally boosts your kills, one of the biggest reasons why I'm always dex in PvE :)
Totally. Some days ago I noticed I did a whole Stronghold run in str gear rounding up - and had zero kills - that would have never appened wearing talon or bow...

I need your advice on that, a talon/wing setup.

On the times I've tried using it, I always thought of it as a weaker version of a 1H Sword + Shield setup, just a bonus of small ranged attacks with the talon.

Do the talon attacks actually do good damage? I'm sure it can't compare to a bow, since its 2H, I'm just eager to try and make a talon/wing setup, especially since how I love the range and combination of bear skills :)

Well it is like a sword with some range, but with good gear you can do some damage. With RR talon set i got 216 dps with 144 hit and 51 crit unbuffed - that hurts a bit.
But with Drainer set you are right, the talon is only a symbolic weapon :-)

So imo talon makes sense with a good set, you might wanna test drive RR for that. I offer my set for tests! :-)

I know! When sewers were new, I sold one for 50K, last week someone offered me 200K or a raid autobow for my talon. Autobow for talon - there is really something wrong with talon prices... I should start farming the goblin king again... :-)

Yup I had the impression that they were gonna be as cheap as daggers, guess not D:

I would want to farm it too, but for what GK drops, and your only aiming for that one pink, chances are pretty slim I think.

I'm really no expert, but I'd use Crossbow or Gun for PVP. A talon just has not much range.

In PVE I prefer talon for those average mobs, you get some armor but still can attack someone while running to the next wall to beckon. I'm not sure if wearing talon makes much sense for a dual bird...

Guys,
Cool stuff here. Am rethinking another try at a duel dex/str bear. I did not like a bow at all. Talon/wing might be a bit more armor for my comfort level. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers

NAKED WALLACE!! WOOOO HOOO!!!

This is the best tank... he's teaching my lowly little cub to follow in his footsteps bit I think I'll skip the stripper routine!

Forgot to say, I recommend maxing out stripping skill for warriors, so you never lose bosses' attention... ;-)

Yesssss, speedy bear is my new inspiration after watching him move with talon so I am making a dex bear now as well.

Well, Wally and Elly made me want to have a bear :p

Should be before. Dex bears get huge crit when using the right gear. My bear has 48/50 unbuffed crit on a Custom Recurve Set, depending on the ring. :)

Wallace along with Badtee actually pushed me the most in converting more to a dex bear, which I dont regret. I was always a str bear on str equips before, til I noticed their range and power :)

I think with talon and rage I have 83 crit.
Having the ability to wear dex gear is really something I'd recommend to every end game bear, you are much more flexible. And thanks to dual spec and Elly's guides you don't even have to decide for str or dex.

Thank you, I'm glad I could help.
It is just the price for a Fury shield and sword. I guess I am dex 80 % of my playing time, so my money always went into dex gear first. And for me, 1.5 mil seem to be too much for the improvement fury gear would bring.
But in theory, I'd think too, Royal with Fury should be the perfect tanking mix.

Cool. I can't imagine playing on the same team with Elly, Wallace, Toughie and Zux now. Elly and Toughie were already kings before I even knew how to play. Wallace, I'd like to play with you some time. Gotta level my Tank/Dex Bear now then. :P

My bear is kinda retired until a new cap comes, but ran with you with my birdie. Liked what I saw :)
