Shield Symbol?

Sorry if this was already posted, but I did not see anything. What does the Shield symbol next to my toons name mean?

I thought it meant you were the host. But that theory is incorrect.

The only legitimate time when the Shield symbol appears during the game is if you take the Protection Orb at Gurgox's Chamber. It's a bug as far as I can tell, since it appears randomly and erratically. Or I could be wrong :)

Actually I have seen in the sewers, so I don't think it has to do with orbs.

Hence I said legitimate. I've never seen the Shield icon appear outside of Gurgox's chamber, until this latest update. Now the Shield icon is nearly everywhere, even in towne.

I Don't klnow any more about it than you do, but I can make the shield icon come and go by equipping/unequipping my Cyber Kite Shield of the Rift. My gem shield doesn't give it.

Yep I think it's cyber gear. If you have two items of the gear you get 2 shields, 1 say like the gun cyber set you get 1 shield.....still no idea what it actually does or means tho.

Maybe its a bug I saw a player join a game on AO2 and it had the shield.

It's nearly any random piece of gear I think. The PL shield and Community Shield also gives it. When I created a Hideout game and Ellyidol joined, he had TWO shield icons next to his name :D

The shields show set pieces. They implemented new set bonuses and the shields show it. Although it might be still a bit glitchy. Each piece=1 shield.

My bird can make the shield icon come and go by equipping/unequipping my Sentinel's Armor of Death. Only 1 shield and only the body armor triggers it. I have the full set. Weird.

Cyber Armor/Sent
1 shield is for body armor
2 shield is for both body armor and shield

What can I say, now you know what allows me to tank! I have 2 secret shield buffs from Gurgox.

But seriously, yeah it seems Cyber. Had Cyber Armour+Shield on, hence the 2 shield buffs.

hate shield, mystery armor of ancients give it. helms do not. im pretty sure OL kite of rift probably does too. i get two with hate and mystery

My Str Booster Set : (Str Crown, Zuraz Lance, Cyber Rift Armour, Cyber Rift Shield) - 2 Shield Buffs.

Here's the list i've concluded so far that gives shield buff

Mystery armor, Cyber armor, Cyber Shield, Sent armor, Sent Shield

not sure about sent armor

Mystery Helm and Mystery Sword seems to give one buff each, but not at the same time.

I wear both, I have 1 shield buff. I wear one of either, I still have one buff.

=O all this time i kinda understand which armors give the shield buff, but what does it do?
my first guess was increase armor?

Don't think so, no increase in armour when I have one of the shield icons on.

I think maybe just a glitch?

on my Bear i see 2 shields, on my bird only 1. Bear uses Hate set, bird not sure :>

I also have two pieces of mystery gear and show a single shield. Been in groups where everyone has the shield showing.

I assume it's an indicator of something we already had, rather than some new buff. But, I could be wrong.

I have not seen it at all in any lower level groups (neither my bear nor bird in the 20s have it).

In fact, I only need the Mystery Armor on for it to show (no other items equipped -- just that one item equipped will do it). The Mystery Helm does not do it. Based on shown stats, it's not doing anything specific. So, I don't know what it would be indicating, either...

If that's the case, how come when I equip full cyber gear it only shows two shields?

It definitely doesn't protect you from grates either.

Just a note, I don't see any shield(s) when using a copperhead set.

Cyber sheild works to but void doesnt

I use shadow gear with any weapon and I get the shield all the time. It never goes away when using shadow death set. Doesn't seem to do anything.
