There's 2 options :

1. Jailbreak your iPad 2 (I don't think there is one yet). Then you get an app that records display (I think its called Display Recorder).

2. Manually take a video of you playing on your iPad, through a phone, camera, etc.

I actually want to try and link my iPad to my TV through the HDMI cable thing, then I could probably see PL on my TV, so I take a video from there.

I'm not sure either, but doesn't the iPad 2 have some sort of HDMI out or something?

I have to ask the techy people in the stores, but from what a friend told me, you could connect your iPad 2 to a TV/Projector, etc and it will show exactly what is on your iPad.

So if I play PL on my iPad, it should come out in the TV too? Lol

well, if you want really good quality, connect your ipad 2 to your hd television, then use something like easycap or dazzle to capture it. it is a costly option, but the results would be high quality

You need to jailbreak your iDevice if you want to use the cable and connect it to TV, because you need an app which you can get only in Cydia

Shouldn't need to on the iPad 2, they talk about it in the Apple site on how you can connect it to another display. So I don't think they'd promote jailbreaking on the Apple site :P

iPad 2 has indeed hdmi out with an apple adapter. Screen recorder doesn't work in 4.3.1 or 4.3.2 anymore :( (at least when I tested it).

Edit: iPad 1 has video out too, only no mirroring and it's analogue (component or composite)

Edit2: I just checked Cydia, and screenrecorder doesn't support iPad at all :(

Screenrecorder sux, because it just makes screenshots every 2 seconds

Did anyone get any further with this - Recording PL from your iPad2. I'm looking into this for recording PL & SL and have a possible solution but wanted ppl's input before spending lots of money. Jail-breaking isn't an option. :(

So far this is as far as I have got....

Ipad2 can definitely do HDMI out (not iPad1) but requires an apple adapter (see here for UK Apple Store version (http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC953ZM/A?fnode=MTc0MjU4NjE&mco=MjI2OTIxMzY)) and a HDMI lead...

This would allow screen mirroring so you can see your iPad2 on ur large flat screen TV/monitor, BUT there are a few issues. (I'm also thinking if it'll display on a TV why can't i record that signal on something?)

'Most' apps allow mirroring fine. Some apps (like pages) adopt a 'presentation' mode so the go full screen even if the app is not 'fullscreen' on the iPad2. This allows for presentation to be seen by the audience but the app on just the iPad2 has its controls available to the presenter. Finally some apps, in particular video streaming/rental ones, have a protection system in them called HDCP (see here (http://www.crestron.com/downloads/pdf/featured_articles/152/The_Complexities_of_HDCP.pdf)) which protects copy righted material like movies from being streamed and recorded illegally.

This leaves me with a few questions;

Firstly and most importantly, is Pocket Legends HDCP protected on the HDMI output of an iPad2?
Next, is there any devices out there which will allow the output to be recorded?

I've only found a few;
Black Magic High Intensity (http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/) but this MUST have USB3 as both a port and supported on your motherboard, or it doesn't work. FAIL for me as pricey and I have a macbook...
Black Magic H.264 Pro Recorder (http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/h264prorecorder/) great piece of kit. USB2, HDMI recorder, ticks all the boxes but ultra fail on the price... GULP
Various other Component solutions. Also various video card (PC) options for HDMI input. Also found a VGA way but video quality is low and sound is handled separately and has various sync issues. None of this suit what i need.

So unless someone can come up with a better solution I'm still stuck at iPad2 > Apple adapter > HDMI cable > 42" TV and recording that screen using a camcorder/phone.

Any ideas?

Hey red!

I actually went on and got the HDMI cable awhile back, used it a couple of times since to connect to my TV. Mainly for watching movies straight off iPad, couple of times just to goof off in PL.

So far, that's the best solution I have to record via TV, physically.

I have a guess that if I can connect my iPad HDMI to my laptop, that I can record PL straight off from my laptop display, I don't know if there's a program to record laptop display but I'm confident there is. Will let you know if ever :)

Hi everyone,

New here, I'm not even sure what this forum is for, lol, but I did stumble across you asking about how to capture from a tablet, and I just made a video discussing how to do just that, so I thought it might be helpful for you. Here it is!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vho_GVXd5xs

Some additional information (also found throughout the video):

1. This works on any Android tablet with HDMI out. It works on the iPad 2 if you have the HDMI adapter. It DOES NOT work on the iPad 1, because Apple did not include HDMI-out for whatever reason.

2. The AverMedia software detects tablets as HDCP-protected, and for that reason will not allow you to record directly from their software; you will need to use some fashion of screen recording software.

If you have any questions about the process, feel free to post them and I'll try to remember to check back on this board over the next few days! Hope that was helpful!

You could watch the video...but I mean, the video is pretty long too, so maybe that's not much better. :)
