Hi everyone, I'm attempting to put together a list of phones that will take screen shots unrooted. If you have an Android device, and have tried using shootme for screens, please post your phone model and whether or not you had to root for it to work.
For anyone wondering how to take screens on an Android, go download an app called Shoot Me. Some phones will require rooting for this to work, I will not tell you how to do that here (Google is your friend!) . After installing, open shoot me and hit hide. By default, the app is set to take a screen whenever you shake the phone. Whenever you get to a spot where you want to take a screen, just give the phone a shake!
HTC evo 4g- works unrooted
Motorola Milestone (sold as the Droid 1 in the US)- requires rooting
Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate - works unrooted
Samsung Galaxy S Capivate - requires rooting
Samsung Galaxy Tab - works unrooted, without need of a screen shot app
Samsung Galaxy S - works unrooted
Samsung Mesmerize - requires rooting

Sorry off topic but do any Android phones allow screen-display video recording? txs.

As long as your phone is powerful enough, shoot me takes video as well. However, on all but the highest end phones, it will make your game run choppy.

I don't think any of the HTC model's support screenshoting non-rooted;-)

Thanks a lot for the info! My oldee 2.5G iPhone might get replaced by Android or might not if the new one in July kicks ***. Very tempted to get an Android tbh. Will see.
I didnt think the Evo did. I thought no android phone did until it had gingerbread on it.

Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate with Android 2.1 does not require ShootMe root. I don't think any Galaxy S phones require a root, actually. And lol at your sig ^!

Tried running this on my samsung mesmerize and it says I need root (same phone as verizons fascinate). So I guess not all galaxy s phones work without root, maybe its cause I updated to the new froyo?

On My Touch 4g immediately says doesn't work unrooted. Shoulda known, it being HTC.
If somebody can find a way to screenshot on my phone other than root or using another phone/device to take a pic, I will be eternally grateful.

Samsung Galaxy S2 - no need for rooting or additional software. Screenshot can be taken by pressing "Home" + "Power" buttons together.
