The Pocket Legends Development Team has a challenge for our fans – can you bake a cake? Can you bake a Pocket Legends 1 Year Anniversary Cake? Show us the best Pocket Legends themed cake on our Facebook Page and you could win some phat platinum and the exclusive Pocket Legends Shield!


The Challenge:


Bake a cake.
Decorate it in honor of Pocket Legends turning 1 year old.
Take a picture of your awesome cake.
Post it on our Facebook Page. Your entry MUST be posted on our Facebook page to be eligible. Go ahead and become a fan while you are there: www.facebook.com/pocketlegends (http://www.facebook.com/pocketlegends)


When:
The Bake a Cake Challenge starts now and runs through 12 Noon Central on Wednesday, April 27. All entries will be collected on April 27th. Community Polling for the winners will go from April 27 to April 28th. After the poll closes we'll tally the votes and announce winners.

Voting:
Once everyone has submitted their cake pictures, we will create a poll on the Official Pocket Legends Message Forums for all the entries. Fans can then vote and the votes will determine the winner and runners up.

Prizes:


One Grand Prize – 500 Platinum plus the ultimate-uber-rare Shield of Legends

Rules:


Please, no cakes or cake designs or decorations that are obscene, hurtful or otherwise mean.
Entry must be posted on the Pocket Legends Facebook Page between now and 12:00 Noon Central (1 PM Eastern, 10 AM Pacific) on April 27th.
Only one entry per person. If you want to remove your early entry and enter a different cake, delete your first entry and post up your new one.
Winners will be contacted through Facebook for their character information. If you do not respond to us within 48 hours from the end of the contest, we reserve the right to roll the prize down to the next place winner.
No photoshopping or altering the image in any way.
The cake does not have to be edible.
Your picture of the cake must be recognizable as a cake. Someone should look at it and say "That's a cool cake!"
You must make the cake in real life. You cannot make a 3D model or other "virtual" cake.
The cake image you post must be yours. No stealing a picture from the internet and trying to pass it off as your own.

No real way to know from your picture - so no, it does not have to be edible. It does need to be recognizable from the picture that it is "a cake"

Sure. Make it out of whatever you want, it doesn't have to be edible, but it does have to be recognizable by the average person as being a cake.

You could probably get a skilled baker to make it if you wanted -- as long as they're ok with you saying it's yours, who's going to argue?

Good thing is, you don't have to eat it -- so don't worry about making it taste good. Just worry about making it look good!

You know, I actually bake and decorate cakes as a hobby (just pulled off a passable 3-D Perry the Platypus for my eldest's 6th birthday). I just don't know if I'm going to have time for this, especially with the current holidays (mixed Jewish/Christian household here, so we have Easter and Passover ongoing).

The contest rules say that it is a birthday cake for PL. I would imagine that a generic or otherwise off-topic cake would not be well-received by the judges.

I extended this idea from DawnInfinity but eligible entries for the prizes should supply pictures of them (doesn't have to include faces) of the player actually making the cake. I can easily see how some users can ask their parents or a professional cake maker to make the entire cake for them (giving them quite an advantage for doing basically nothing).

I decided against fondant because it was going to be eaten by my kids after all was said and done, and while fondant makes nice smooth cake coverings that can be tinted, painted, etc., frankly, it tastes... well... not so good. So it's all buttercream frosting on top of a standard yellow cake, cut into the shape of the PL shield. Colored sprinkles added to simulate the "party" emote.

PL Bake a Cake Contest! My Entry: Completely homemade, it is a Pumpkin Pie. The pumpkin was harvested from my very own plant, the large yellow flowers on the outside are Chrysanthemum flowers from plants i have planted, the green/white leafy garnish next to them is a type of variegated Mint. The smaller flowers on the inside are Chamomile flowers also harvested from my plants growing here. The red letters of the "PL" are done with some dehydrated berries that we had growing here and dried a couple weeks ago. Everything is edible! Hope you like it, and more imporant HAPPY 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY POCKET LEGENDS!!! :)
