I recently read

Those who purchased the spine of pocket legends received
A shield of gratitude? I would like to know if the vanity shield
can have the previous stats reinstated? 20def 30health? Or
If we can have 50 platinum as gratitude instead of shield?
Similar to picking which we would like...
The gift was a nice gesture, but I'd prefer the platinum in all honesty.

It's sort of a promotion thing going on atm. To draw players in. In exchange they are raking it in with leveling potions and vanities.

The vanity stats were nerfed because it had more armor and was more powerful then the uber rare shield of Legends and Community shield. So, to make it fair for everybody, they just nerfed them.

I would've been satisfied with 5 platinum, 1 chance to rename character,

is the spine free forever to all new players that joined within this 2 week?
or is it only free in 2 weeks? meaning you can only try to get to lvl 56 in 2 weeks?
because if it is free forever i'll tell my friends to join since they don't have to pay

The shield as vanity is kind of funny.. all there is is a
Vanity shield and nothing else I'd like to buy
More vanity so I wont look weird with this "gratitude shield".

The 2 are not the same thing OP. You get a gift, you either accept it or not. You can't say to the giver, ok thanks but how much can I now sell this for?;)

The promotion of free content is to celebrate 1 year of PL and the fact it is successful from players playing and happily paying makes that possible. The game doing less well would not have "declared war on high prices"! :)

I like the gesture, once again cool support from the devs and game is worth every cent imo.

Well, in that case I have a bone to pick with Best Buy. I bought this big screen TV about 8 months ago and I now I can buy a new one for less that what I still owe on it.

Everyone should stop complaining. Nobody held a gun to your head and forced you to buy fake money on the internet for a phone game. Nobody owes you anything. The sooner you learn that, the sooner you can start enjoying the game again.
