Where did the free Plat go? TapJoy and Apple

I've been seeing people ask about how come there is not a way to obtain free Platinum anymore, so I wanted to post about it.

TapJoy is the company that we worked with to provide the free platinum. It's a deal where you trade your time to download other apps in exchange for some Plat. Apple has issues with this activity and are not approving apps that do this. So, to keep Pocket Legends approved, we turned the TapJoy offer wall off.

We're working with Tapjoy to figure this out.

Until this gets sorted, there is no Platinum available for spending time downloading other Apps.

One reason why I never purchased a single Apple product? Greedy, money-hungry company that wants a cut in anything they can get their grubby hands on. Come on, 4 iphones, 2 ipads, 6 ipods, and 4 itouch generations? Give me a break.

Apple is really greedy. I understand some of the things they do but this is ridiculous. Tapjoy is trying to help apps that would never get noticed THANKS TO THE STUPID RATING SYTEM OF THE iTunes STORE ANYWAY, so I mean like double yeww tee eff? It has to be apples way or no way. I'm actually glad I heard about this. I'm about to upgrade my phone in 2 days, looks like I'll be going with a droid. I'm anxious to see how PL runs on the HTC© Thunderbolts dual core processor.

My bf works with computers and detests Apple because they have such a closed system and do it purposefully. I have a Droid and an iPad (purchased despite his many protests) and will probably retire my iPad depending on how the galaxy tab works out.

But the MACheads are fanatical in their support of Apple and their marketing campaign has successfully "branded" them as the technological accessory to own. I hate whipping out my iPad because it makes me feel like a mindless drone submitting to the masses.

Can't STS introduce another free plats earning systems without the necessary use of Tapjoy? At the user point of view, I don't care who offers the free plats, just how we could get it.

There's no good reason why they can't have this enabled for Android users, though. It's just yet another shackle Apple is putting on devs that ends up affecting users.

I'm not taking sides. This just gives some users yet another possibly good reason to switch to Android. But if STS isn't the only company applying the ban to both iOS and Android, then Apple is directly hurting Android developers and users, too.

Instead of harming Android users in the process, STS should have a nice email out to Apple explaining how their iOS users feel unfairly harmed compared to their Android users.

Anyway, it won't even matter if Tapjoy WAS enabled for Droid and not the iOS since the Tapjoy wall for the Droid is completely and utterly useless.

I don't see what fairness has to do with it. Is it fair that some people play on fast cable connections and others play on 500ms ping 2G connections because they have different devices? Maybe STS should enforce a 500ms ping to make it fair for everyone.

Is it fair some play on tiny 3.5" screens while others play on large 10.1" screens? Maybe STS should make sure that all displays only show the game in 3.5 inches.

Is it fair some people have jobs and can buy platinum where others have to beg for it with tapjoy?

Is it fair that iOS owners have been able to enjoy Pocket Legends for many more months than Android users? Maybe STS should have not allowed iOS owners to play while they worked on the Android version.

Is it fair that Blackberry owners can't play Pocket Legends? Maybe STS should disable the ability to play on Android and iOS devices while they work on a Blackberry version. Ditto for web. Console. And so on.

If any of this seems ludicrous, it's because it is. It's just as ludicrous to think that STS should turn off a feature across all platforms because one platform doesn't support it.

If you're talking fairness, it's absolutely not fair that something is turned off on Android because Apple wants to enforce some silly closed-minded rule on their platform. Android owners _chose_ Android to get an open environment. Instead, they're being punished just the same as if they'd chosen iOS.

Since it's not fair either way you look at it, it's obviously not about fairness.

If I read correctly, it's not about the money. Doesn't apple get the money no matter what, as long as the apps are bought? I read that they were doing this to keep apps from getting high up on their popular list just bc they were downloaded for perks. I do agree with that, although sad that I can't get plat. But I do agree that Apple needs to fix their ratings system. Maybe once they do, they'll allow things like tapjoy again? Who knows.
