View Full Version : Yay!!! Nook Color gets Android 2.2

Finally you droidees are going to have a tablet. I know some people here already hacked their Nooks and ran Android off a card, but now it's official. Today your Nooks get to upgrade to Android 2.2 and B&N are announcing an app store, too.
As an Apple fanboi, all I can say is thank heavens!!! I am so tired of people saying the tablet is never going to take over. Just look at babylon 5 and star trek, lots of tablets there. Still waiting for reality to catch up! A padd that costs half the price of an iPad (Wifi only model) that can do all the basic internet things (like news, email, browse, and play PL) and the special things (photos, pdfs, and miscelaneous apps) is JUST WHAT WE NEED! Because only against a backdrop of failures and viruses will the Apple policies make sense. Seen within the limited scope of Apple's own products, they seem "draconian", but once people see what "open" really means, they will understand that they have a choice: higher cost with security versus lower cost with risks. And they can choose for themselves.

Viewsonic G Tablet is 10" with Tegra 2 processor and has been out for a while now... All you need to do is flash it with TnT Lite to get rid of the horrible software that comes with it. And, yes, you are correct. Tablets will take over the world :D

Are you sure the nook color can run PL when it comes out available in 2.2? I want a tablet, and I don't want it to be a iPad... Or expensive lol...

I rooted and flashed one of my friends NOOK and he's playing PL on it. So I would say it can. :D
I've been running pl on a nook color just fine. I prefer the iPad though.

That's freaking awesome because I was thinking about getting a Nook Color and rooting it but was skeptical about it. Now I know that there's no doubt in my mind I'll get one.
