Ifthis is your first archer, go for all points in Dex. You can't fail that way.
Also, stick with bows and crossbows unntil you work out talons and shields. Be warned: talons and daggers don't have the same max damage as bows, so for mobs with higher armor, they might not be able to even touch them.

Early on stick with putting your points into blast shot and concentration. That will give you a good offensive damage skill (it also has aoe damage) and a good self buff that raises your potential for critical hits. Take a look at Physio's archer guide in the Archer section and it will show you all the skills and give you some good ideas on potential builds.

But most importantly for now, master hitting your enemies from a distance where they can't hit you back and continuing to kite around them. Birds have lower armor and health, but can do lots of damage fast. So practice hitting without getting hit back.

For an archer build, only put your attributes on dex.
For skills, try to get your buffs focus and evade maxed asap. In opinion, max all your skills except restore, meditation, and avian scream. (avian at 1 others at 0).
I'd stick to using bows for now until you start to get familiar with the range. When you do try out talons and daggers, only use talons because they are ranged. (unless you like to fight up close). ;)
