View Full Version : Building my Enchantress?

I'm totally new to the world of MMO and RPG.

I'm thinking I want to build my Enchantress as a Paladin or Dual Build STR/INT (is that the same thing?).

I'm level 13 right now and have my STR 1, INT 63, and DEX 2. I take a lot of damage easy. Should I build up evenly if my target is 139/139? I have 10 points to allocate. Should I just throw them in strength?

Also, what's the best strategy to build my skills?

Right now I have 1 on the single ice thing, 4 on lightning, 2 on heal, 1 on revive, 1 on fire, 1 on group ice thing, and 1 on drain.

Sorry for the noob question, but I'm a TOTAL noob. :)

Thanks for the help,
Jeremy

hi, welcome to the forums, I myself are an Int bird...
I say for mages role full int or at a max level 55/56 to have 179 on int.
Here is a guide to mages http://www.spacetimestudios.com/showthread.php?279-Enchanteress-skill-list-(With-Pics)-short-guide

For now u should start just adding int until ur lv50 then respec.

Respec according to your playing type: Tank- Str Dmg-Dex Helper role/semi attacker-Int,
but yeah i'd say full int if not a full str pally at 55

right now, stick to build and dont worry about dual spec 139/139
adjusting your duality every level and getting the necessary booster gear will not be a breeze.

right now either go full int for a int mage, or enough str to equip str items and rest into int for a pally. once you hit 50 (can be done at 45, but at 50 you can use lv40+ items as booster gear) you can adjust stats to 127 minimum of each, as long as you have at least the str booster gear.

First of all, by seeking advice here you are showing you are not a TOTAL noob. That is a smart step. Also, it's obvious you have read several of the guides presented by several of the people here.

I agree you should go full int until at least level 45. Learn to play your Mage before deciding whether to switch to paladin or bowmage. I switched to paladin at lvl 45 and it was easy with Thoth eq. I switched back to full int at lvl 51 when I got my full cyber gear. I found that I enjoy my full int mage better at the moment.

As for your skills, your map so far looks great. How did you get drain life at lvl 13? I thought it was a lvl 14 spell? In any event, I would max out lightning next. Put two or three points into weakness (lvl 16) and heal if you are having trouble surviving until lvl 20. Otherwise max out firestorm. At lvl 20, put 1 point into magic shield, which will double your survival. At 22 put a point into blessing of vitality. From 24-29, max out blessing of might. It will double the damage you do (seriously). Always use it before you drop the bombs. Then max out heal. Then max out nightmare if you want even more damage, or weakness for more survivability (eventually max both). By level 45, max out blessing of vitality, which will help you survive AO3.

Now there is a debate about the end build. Which to choose, frostbite, ice storm or drain life. I do not even think ice storm is really a viable option. Most people Max out drain life because it's a huge OMG l33t! single target damage spell that also heals you and leave frostbite (or ice storm) at 3 for a level 55 build. I disagree completely and do 6 frostbite and 3 drain life. Here's why.

Drain Life is the highest single target damage spell in the game. It is plagued with problems though. First, it needs an "Auto" target to be effective. If you are bombing as a mage, stuff dies quickly. You click drain life and your target dies (four other people are hopefully attacking too, right)? Sorry, you just wasted your spell. Frostbite needs no "Auto" target. If your target dies, it simply blasts the next closest mob. Second, drain life has a 12 second cooldown. Frostbite is only 4, so it can be cast 3:1. It also does 2/3 the damage of drain life, which means it does double damage overall (6/3). Third, the heal effect is too often wasted. Sure it will heal you from 1 hp to almost full, but when you are level 45+, stuff does not whittle away at your HP as a mage. You get hit without protection a few times, you die. Do you want to save your Drain Life spell for that two second window? If you are, that means you are not casting it (making frostbite even more powerful). And what if it misses? Hopefully you have 2 more seconds so you can cast heal!

That said, I would take Drain Life to level 2, and frostbite to level 4, and decide for yourself which one you like best. Good luck!

Thanks all for the help on this. It's been very very helpful. I'm at Level 19 now and have magic shield. I noticed that I got a lot of spells earlier than I thought I would based on the Enchantress guide. I think the devs might have changed the game specs.

I should amend my previous post. Drain life does NOT require an "Auto" target like I thought. It will strike an untargeted mob just like frostbite. I still personally prefer frostbite, but that's one less thing against Drain Life IMO.
